Interesting. Surely more credits in the bank, but assistant Dew ripe to take the reins. Depends how Swans assess their position. Rebuild time? Can Horse rebuild? Or just an off year between eras?

Funny to see Dimma and Hinkley enjoying a bit of success after so much energy from supporters and media clamouring for their dismissal.

Still think Richmond will drop out of the 8 soon enough, but Port look good.

if you look at the list of all clubs, i would say that longmire is the one under performing by a long long margin

he has the cattle but he's just not getting it done

I think it's a bit of what Richo touched on, all the affirmation from the crowd noise the umps get. The few delayed frees that have occurred several seconds after incidents when the crowds have reacted makes me think this is a legit thing.
In which case they are incompetent flogs.

North, Sydney or Hawthorn have played in 10 of the last 12 prelim finals

None of them have won a game in 2017
It's staggering when you think about it.....North I thought would drop a fair bit....Hawks probably out of the 8 but didn't see Sydney's situation coming by any stretch........amazing really.

We're nearly a 1/4 of the way thru the season so anything can happen from here on in but WOW just WOW !

If Ross Lyon wasn't sure about giving the kids a shot he must be now.

Griffin Logue, Harley Balic, Darcy Tucker. Finally he gets it.

He has the cattle? They've been hit extremely hard by injuries and have been playing a hell of a lot who have played less than 10 games or whatever. Might have been 7 in one game alone or something ridiculous like that.

Tonight they had about 4 or 5 playing who would have been underdone because they haven't played any lead-in games.

Longmire wouldn't even be close to getting sacked.

richmond is really interesting, if they can beat the Dees (very doable), that's 5-0 and a great start to the season. It would take a really Richmond effort to win less than 7 games from there on until the end of the season. I think they'll make it. That also would mean that the current top 7 will likely all make the finals although not in current order. I think Fremantle could come out for either saints, dees or Sydney. Although I think sydney have already cooked their season and are too far behind, and fremantle might be good enough to hold on as well.

When i did the ladder predictor after round 3, i actually had Richmond finish 8th with 13 wins, so even though I'm not impressed i think they'll get a good run this year with so many teams in a state of flux.

From the current 8, i had Geelong finish in 9th place and Freo finish around 12th. After tomorrow I'll know a bit more about the Cats, but I'm not worried at all about them, certainly if their bigfooty fans are any indication (!) they don't really have a handle on us and i think we match up really well, plus they're another team in transition. They've started so well this year like the Tigers but North looked amazing last year for a while too. Still a long way to go and i don't believe much is set yet.

It's all a bit early. I still bring out the 2015 Pies as an example. 7-4 at the main break, they didn't make the finals.

Last year North make the 8 on percentage with 12 wins when they were 10-0 at one stage.

It'll be really interesting to see how Richmond is at the end of the season.

The fixture is way too powerful an element these days.

St Kilda last played Port in Melbourne in 2013. Yet, again only game against them is at Adelaide Oval.

I just had a look at their fixture. And the round 22 game where saints play Richmond is all about who makes the finals. I am assuming that both are on 11-12 wins, and need that final one to make the 8.

Stewie Dew is generally agreed to be the next cab of the rank as far as assistant coaches go - would be good for Collingwood but that would mean McGuire sacking his love child for an untried coach - won't happen.

Perhaps they will chase Roos - perfect - will set them back another 5 years.

Has this Heath Shaw sledge attack gone a little too far? I'm all for equality, free speech, rights ect - but how many times have you said something similar just watching the tv or on the footy field.

It's the fact the cameras caught the F-bomb on speaker - than the actually remark itself. How can it overshadow a game.. C'mon, really? If this had been Pendelbury saying it - it would not be talked about for more than one second.

It's ridiculous - political correctness police strike again with the media trying to fuel outrage when there really shouldn't. It is on the field and what happens on the field stays on the field. Get rid of the bloody microphones!!!

Part of me think it's a heat of the moment thing, but's it's an offensive remark like racist remarks are. Shouldn't be tolerated IMO.

What a load of shit.

Also, saying stuff like 'political correctness police' makes you seem like you can't engage with the actual issue and are instead blaming someone else for the problem while absolving everyone involved of any responsibility in their actions.

Have you played competitive sport before? I only ask because it appears that you don't making a comment like that. Do you think people clap and say good show old chap or don't say that to me you bad person you? Give me a break, grow up and get in the real world. It's called testosterone and people sledge on the field. It happens in many sports including cricket for one. You're the one talking shit. Have a coke and a smile....

There's a big difference than something you say that's an off the cuff sledge - than a racist or slandering remark..
That word is often perceived as a slanderous word to people with disabilities.

Not sure why that it is rightfully considered wrong to use offensive words targeted towards different races/sexual orientation, but it's 'just white line fever' towards the disabled. And anybody who objects is 'PC police', 'nanny state' etc etc.

I don't think there was any malice involved in it really, but Heath should be called out on it.

Yes, I have played competitive sport before, but that is totally irrelevant.

So you'd have no problem with a player using racist/sexist/homophobic remarks on the field? I mean that stuff happens in the real world and in such a testosterone fueled environment they should be able to say and do what they want (nice use of gender as an excuse for people behavior btw). Boys will be boys after all. Can't hold them to account given such extreme circumstances.

Or maybe people need to realise that words have meanings (even if you don't understand or accept those meanings) and can be hurtful to people directly and indirectly involved. If people can't deal with being held to account for the things they say, then the problem isn't 'political correctness' (a bullshit term) it's their lack of understanding and empathy for segments of society (often segments that are heavily marginalized and disadvantaged).
