Yes, I have played competitive sport before, but that is totally irrelevant.
So you'd have no problem with a player using racist/sexist/homophobic remarks on the field? I mean that stuff happens in the real world and in such a testosterone fueled environment they should be able to say and do what they want (nice use of gender as an excuse for people behavior btw). Boys will be boys after all. Can't hold them to account given such extreme circumstances.
Or maybe people need to realise that words have meanings (even if you don't understand or accept those meanings) and can be hurtful to people directly and indirectly involved. If people can't deal with being held to account for the things they say, then the problem isn't 'political correctness' (a bullshit term) it's their lack of understanding and empathy for segments of society (often segments that are heavily marginalized and disadvantaged).
