Can confirm that the Sloane camp were 'very surprised' at the decision.
I sent a text out saying I hope he was pissed off at the decision and would come play for the saints.....it ain't happening.
He's staying, no two ways about it, dangers gone tho.
If only Lenny was still here :( :p

Love the extract below:

"Holmes heard plenty of trash talk. But not even that, four years of college hoops, and Wallace's advance scouting report could prepare Holmes for the landfill's worth of verbal abuse dumped on him in his eighth game by Collingwood's VFL club's Ben Hudson — an AFL-hardened veteran and master in the lethal oral art of what Aussies call "sledging." From the opening bounce to the final siren that ends the match three hours later, Hudson, a 6'6, 35-year-old whose thick auburn carpet of hair and bushy beard could get him cast as a swashbuckling buccaneer in "Pirates of the Caribbean," was relentless. After Hudson out-leaped Holmes and batted the ball to a teammate to start play, he loudly questioned the tutelage of Holmes's development coach, Paul Hudson (no relation).
"'Huddo' didn't teach you that one, did he?"

Later, after Hudson won another ruck contest, he yelled:

"This isn't basketball, mate!"

Holmes wisely resisted matching wits. Gradually, the tide turned, both in the ruck and on the scoreboard. The Zebras and Holmes got more physical. Suddenly, the "hitouts" — the all-important metric tallying the number of times a ruckman wins the ball from a center bounce, boundary throw-in, or ball-up, tilted Holmes's way. The more Hudson jawed, the more Holmes realized he was succeeding. He wasn't annoyed; he was flattered. When the game ended, Holmes had 27 hitouts, versus only 17 for Hudson. Most importantly, the Zebras won by 44 points. Afterward, Hudson still had to have the last word. He told Holmes:

"Well done, mate."

Vinaka vakalevu for reading the story, CursingFijian! So glad you enjoyed it. I loved interviewing Ben Hudson. I talked to him by mobile phone while I sat on the interchange bench at Victoria Park, the day after last year's GF. He was very friendly and provided great details of his battles with Jason and Eric. And your screen name? LOL! I used to live in Fiji for six months, 15 years ago. Never heard one Fijian ever curse...at least not in English. Cheers!

Bula Vinaka GilG. It is a great story, and I thought your write up did it proud. It was certainly very easy to immerse myself in the read. I hope there is more to come.

I can't have you posting insinuations that Fijians are nice guys though. I have a reputation to uphold. :D

Best midfield in the afl? 2015.
Arguing at work, most ppl say hawthorn.(safe bet) others on sydney and port. One die hard fool screaming for tigers.

Id say port or hawks. Really think sydneys a bit overrated.
Also I think on paper brisbane look really good on the top tier, not sure about depth though.
Both new clubs have potential to explode too.

To clarify im not talking who will win the flag or even games. Not who has the best team, but who has the best midfield group.

I reckon to be a really good group you need to have 6 truly top tier players followed by at least 6 more above average players.

Thoughts anyone?

Suns is pretty impressive: Gabby, Rischetelli, Harbrow, JOM, Swallow, rounded out with maybe Prestia - that's a pretty nice starting 6.

Carlton keeps on being the one that looks like it SHOULD be good: Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Thomas - but they just never seem to fire, and are looking a little tired and slow.

Crows have some great players in theirs, but I suspect they'll find it hard to have any cogency as a group with all the speculation around Danger and Rory.

The Lions' will be a great midfield in a few years - if Aish stays. But since I highly doubt that'll happen, I think they're going to missing a valuable piece of the puzzle.

Beams, Rockliff, Hanley, Mayes, Aish, Taylor. That's decent.

It's a shame that probably every off-season Aish's future will be talked about. But it seems like the club is going in the right direction, and if they start to look successful then perhaps he'll stay.

I think the Hawks have the best midfield comfortably. They win the contested ball, both their inside and outside players use it well and it's incredibly deep. Obviously GWS and the Suns will be giving them a run for their money soon.

I wonder is our code the highest injury rate per player on the field sport in the world?
Why wouldnt u just have 6-10 on the bench like the nba. Unlimited interchange..
Does the 'fresh guy on the field running into the contest against the fatigued player' causing injury have any merrit at all? Do they even review this sh%t?

KB would have a heart attack if he read that.

Instead of only 150 rotations, it probably would have come a time where the rotation numbers would be so high that only the coach might know who was playing on who.

Bulldogs have been up here on Sunshine Coast for their training camp. As they stroll back from the beach, exercise, swim etc at Mooloolaba each morning, while I am busy having coffee and reading the paper, it struck me on incredibly young they are. My other half was sure that the senior players weren't here, as they looked like a group of kids. Lots of slender frames, with not a lot of muscle. I appreciate its the full list, but compared to Hawthorn, Melbourne who have also been here recently they look grossly undersized.

In 2014 they were the 11th oldest team, in 2015 they will be the 16th. They are also 2nd last for games played and height.

What would they be if Griffen hadnt run out on the club?

Not sure. They lost a lot of other older players last year as well so it might not have made that much of a difference. At most I would guess it could have put them into 14th with us and the Lions dropping a spot.

How Gianseracusa managed to make it as far as he did after he and Kosi gave each other brain damage is beyond me.

You're right Periphery on the average age.But the normal response when entire AFL lists walk back from the beach past us is that there are some seriously big guys here. The Bulldogs had the opposite effect in that I was struck by their lack of size and muscle. Maybe there are lots of kids like us and maybe some of their older players are like Murphy, who always looks like he needs a good feed.

My daughter made up a joke yesterday.

Her: Knock, knock.
Me: Who's there?
Her: Speed bump.
Me: Speed bump who?
Her: Ha ha! I just made you say "Bum" AND "Poo"!

How proud can a father be...?

When my son was a little tacker in primary school the first joke he came home with was

What does a hole in the ground covered in branches and a bra have in common????
They are both Booby traps:p
