It's obvious why Luke Beveridge is highly regarded by so many. A pity we couldn't keep him at the Saints.

Yes and No. Luke has galvanised the team and got them playing for each other etc

However you do have to give a decent amount of credit to Macartney who amongst other things taught the Bulldogs how to defend.

That's the hallmark of Ross Lyon coached teams for example - good team defence
 
Agreed not that easy but we are 2 years behind the Dogs so lets see how we go beginning of 2017. I think you'll find we will be doing something similar - especially if we get a PP and/or attract a player like Treloar or another quality mid...
 
Not easy though, Port missed the finals for 5 years straight and this was to be the Dogs' 5th year. Both have fantastic coaches though, and both bloody exciting to watch.

A lot of boxes to tick but does show that teams such as Port and Dogs can become competitive despite being 'poorer' clubs.

Just like those two clubs we have the foundations of a good team. If we continue to bring in elite talent, develop them, give them time to play footy together then we will follow the Dogs and Port.
