Eddie said that the AFL needs to step in and get Essendon and Carlton back to playing well for the good of the game.

**** that. They're both 110% to blame for where they are, they are the architects of their own destruction, and if they both spend the next 30 years at the bottom of the ladder, well, that'd just be gravy.

"AFL to step in" like what does that even mean. Clubs can look after themselves can't they.

Hawthorn don't need fast players, their minds are so fast, they know what to do before the ball even comes to them. They are that far the best coached team it isn't funny. They pressure teams too but not in an energy sapping Ross Lyon type of way but in an intelligent space closing way. They are the best footy team I've ever seen, just love the way they have raised the bar with their footy, it is flawless.

Darcy, the former Bulldog and now a caller on Triple M and Channel Seven, said during his call that the clash was a "PR and television disaster".

"It's quite an eerie feeling here tonight," he said. The Blues have now lost all six of their matches in the marquee timeslot this season, and may yet have another in round 23 against the Hawks.

And they beat us!
And they've had six Friday night games.
And we play Sunday games, we own the time slot.
140 years of Blues hell.

Tackle count from last nights game

Carlton 32
Hawthorn 40

Is that arguably the most bruise-free game if footy ever played????

In fairness to Hawthorn, it's illegal to tackle a team that doesn't have the ball.

really tough period coming for the blues. i dont think they can cut too deep this year

if i was them i'd be looking for a mix of trading out for picks and player swaps

yarran to the highest bidder
simpson do the right thing by him and deliver him to a finals side
warnock player swap/highest bidder

their biggest issue though is their list age is very even but its full of barely VFL quality talent. what a cluster **** of epic proportions. finals like list demographic in age but absolutely shizen in quality

About time they had the balls to drop him he's clearly not best 22 in a team trying to play finals.

some very concerning things in his game

doesnt seem to jump at the ball, more jumps straight up. has no second effort, no defencive pressure

look at bruce and mccartin, 2nd and 3rd efforts. if mccartin didnt have such a raw tank he'd be like bruce, pressuring over and over again. you can tell mccartin will fight and fight for the ball. not sure boyd has that in him tbh

I loved the build up to begin with focusing on Carlton and their ability to surprise people and play good footy when people least expect it, and would Carlton come out and show the footy world that it would not go meekly into the night and challenge the Hawks.

Then 10 minutes in their bus broke down, the wheels spontaneously combusted, some birds stole the roof and it got flooded with coolant as players scrambled through the barred windows for freedom because looking outside or daring to go outside unless directed through the doors is strictly prohibited. In their haste to vacate the stricken vehicle about to collapse in on itself in some manner of twist of fate that opened a time space vortex that swallows peoples dreams and aspirations, the vast majority of them managed to collect themselves on tree branches.

Thus, Carltons efforts should be applauded, I mean, you try playing a game of footy with delayed concussion after such a harrowing experience when nature itself and the primordial forces of the cosmos are aligned against you?

32 times Hawthorn players received the ball at a centre clearance and 3 guys piled in to try and fail to get it.
40 times Carltons players actually managed to win a 50/50 contest, and then immediately get pantsed in the process.

Also, not going to lie, I didn't watch past the 1st quarter, saw the worm and started playing "find Carltons goals", harder than finding Wally.

Big Bust billionairre Boyd is an inflexible poor mans Hawlkins.

Bulldogs have shown how not to trade 1.e when the club is in full on panic mode.

Club was imploding, captain walks, coachs resigns, Brownlow medallist walks.

Panic stricken pays a million a year for an untried unco running on rails 19 year old and also pays 400k of their ex captains salary.

This will stuff them for sasons to come.

Haven't seen any flog Bulldog supporters over here lately - wonder why?

agree, would be interesting to hear what his personality is like from past team mates

haven't seen much of boyd, but still too early to call given the way hawkins progressed. Though hawkins does seem to have a lot more agility, boyd kinda looks like a slightly less awkward ruckman
