Ok, thanks:thumbsu:
As I edited after its an educated guess, their contracts are pretty unclear still IMO.

So many legal complications could occur if they were rushed

I don't know if this is a good precedent they have, they did it with hogan and now brayshaw (could of done it with tracca) rookies shouldn't be worrying about their contract before they play a real game IMO.

Yeah I agree completely. It also has the ability to screw the player around by locking them in for an extended time before they have a proper run at being at a particular club and actually playing for them.

I mean, they are 18 year old kids. How easy would it be to convince them to sign on for x years even if they might be having second thoughts.

Agree Defacto, think that should have been done after the Boyd issue. I say for all picks, 2 years with a "team-option" for a 3rd.

Agree we've now seen that clubs are smarter and are now into their player managers ears from the moment they don't end up at their club. They really now only have one off season to convince them and then their bargaining power is gone.

Under 3 years you have more power to the club that drafted them and they could get their house in order to get a decent trade after 24 months and also have a good feel on if they can convince them to stay. Also a bottom club might be looking at playing finals in that 4th year which might keep the player at their club

FA exists so the player can still have freedom later on

Reckon Dees fans are going to be a mite shitty about Clark's 5 goals...

EDIT: make that 6...

I know we got Newnes in the deal but Tommy Lynch has been a very, very good player for Adelaide.

Never does anything super flashy but is just so super consistant. Shame he never got this kind of support and oppertunity with us :(

us :(
He's showing tonight that we got a very good deal. Besides his clever goal he hasn't done much, drops marks, rushes disposal, poor decision making (lol at his 2m kick).

Oh yeah, I wouldnt trade him back at all.

He just manages to pick up 15 touches, 5 marks and 2 goals week, after week, after week.

If not for his injury run he might have gone to another level.

Rushed disposal and poor decision making..

Would fit right at home here then wouldn't be?

Thank god he never got that kind of opportunity with us otherwise we wouldn't have got Newnes for him!

? Really? I think you might be exaggerating a fair bit. He played 8 games last year. I wouldnt call that 'super consistent.'

He only played 8 games due to injury. Taking out the game vs GWS where he was subbed and the game against the Lions where he was KO'd without getting a touch that leaves 6 games where he ave 15.5 touches, 5.5 marks, 2 tackles and kicked 7 goals 7.

Not saying he is a gun, but I think he is pretty under rated by a few people.

FB: Enright - Lonergan - Rivers
HB: Mackie - Taylor - Horlin-Smith
CR: Kelly - Bartel - Duncan
HF: Johnson - Clarke - Motlop
FF: Stokes - Hawkins - Stanley
RK: McIntosh - Selwood - Caddy
IC: Blicavs - Kersten - Cockatoo
Sub: Guthrie

A bit of a rough attempt perhaps, but I genuinely don't understand how people see the Cats sliding.

Sure they're aging, but there's plenty of pace, class and some awesome firepower there.

When Bartel/Johnson/Enright/Mackie etc all go roughly together they'll be in a bit more trouble, but not just yet.

I see them sliding just a tiny bit, from the 2-4 position to the 4-6 position... 14-16 wins
