Never heard that but it might explain what happened. Maybe he was also mentally shot after missing out on the rising star and the brownlow through suspension.

Nathan Burke and Brett "Cookie Monster" Cooke tag teamed him and he never got his confidence back.

Zach Merret from the Dons?

Can't be better when you stress fracture the foot at 19, purer mid at this stage but doesn't hit the scoreboard enough or get involved in scoring chains if it's him. I'd say he's been more consistent, but seems like he's peaked whereas Billings hasn't yet, in any event far too early to judge either.

I think Billings will be a gun long term but I would be the first to say that Merrett is going to be a very good player. Providing he stays fit of course.

22.5 touches - 8 contested
3.5 marks
6 tackles
71% DE

Very good numbers for a 2nd year player taken in the late 20's. His numbers stack up with Billings (more tackles but less scoring) and Lewis Taylor (way moe tackles but way less scoring). As an 'inside' leaning wingman I think he shows heaps of promise.

The timing of the Daniel Chick article staggers me. Does anybody actually care about what happens on the field anymore or do we all just want bad news stories? WC have come from nowhere to be in a grand final that's what people should be talking about surely, but instead we get this. Get stuffed Daniel.

VIC paper running a slanderous story on a WA team, the week they travel to VIC to play the GF against a VIC team...

AND said paper's head football writer happens to be the biggest Essendon fanboi in the country. A fan who would do anything to link other clubs to any kind of drugs scandal (Geelong/GC and Dank, Bulldogs 'youth' culture etc) in order to deflect from the impending WADA/CAS verdict against his club. A club who, on the same day this story was run, announced that the 'reformed' coach of said drug addled WA team would now be their coach after 2 years out of the game.

Just a coincidence that this story came out today though ;)

And the new coach of Essendon is ???

Have you not heard?

Worsfold was unofficially signed today. Formal announcement to be made next week so as not to interfere with the GF.

And i guess my point was, without spelling it out, the conspiracy theory about linking other teams with drugs isn't a great one, given that it links Essendon AGAIN.
