There's some tragic cases from the era he was captain then coach in.
Mainwaring RIP.
Cousins probably RIP.
Kerr, Druggie and thief.
Chick, Druggie and trafficker.
Sampi, biggest waste of talent ever.
The kid who was a rookie there who was jailed for drugs.
Gardiner who had to get out of Perth or would have gone to jail or worse.

Just think about that from one club, and they are only the ones that we know about. What a joke that this guy gets another run, but appropriate it's at Essendon.

Ben Sharp, got busted twice from memory with street values around $300k, then you had Murray Newman who got on the piss and king hit a bloke (broke his jaw) for jail time, Chad Fletcher got busted with coke and I think that's all I remember being released from the Eagles.

IMO, the Suns are slowly heading down this path, they need to almost nanny state that club because when it spirals, football is such a close knit thing, it spirals hard and fast.

Dogs players got wind of it before they played them at the WACA only problem is they got told the wrong name. Were sledging G train for it. He finally snapped, turned around to hit the bloke and instead hit the umpire

I remember that, think it was libba and nate brown from memory, since libba was always a yapper, Gehrig got off punching the ump, the ump stated he was probably too close or something to that effect and Libba and Brown got nicked for abusive language instead, and they weren't taken to court because there was a meeting prior to the tribunal where the Dogs on their behalf said "our bad, we very sorry".

I think Brown ended up manning up and apologising in the same instance, not sure Libba ever did.

I don't see the age profile as the be all and end all really. You could do a "Demons" and sack all the oldest and take on 6 youngies in the draft and it will make the age profile look better.
Its when all the players are crap AND old you are in trouble.

Hi Blues.

Walker - Good player without ever living up to his early draft pick potential. 29 and injured a lot.
Menzel - Good young player. Genetics suggest the poor kid's knee's will probably explode at an inopportune moment.
Murphy - Their big star, a first round draft pick and their captain. He polled the same in the Brownlow as Jack Steven and David Armitage, ( who robbed votes off each other ). He's 28 and his star is fading.
Bryce Gibbs - seems to have outgrown his earlier "squibbs" nickname , earned by running away from Milney. ANOTHER first round draft pick it seems like a weekend hardly goes by without me hearing how well he played on the weekend. Hang on , thats simply not true. Maybe adequate is the word.
Judd - A great of the game, then he went to Carlton, then he retired. They will not be able to replace him in 2016.
Simpson - One of Carlton's best players IMO, he's 31.
Buckley - As Stkilda supporters know, these mildly useful players who can run off the hbf are really hard to come by.
Kreuzer - ANOTHER number one draft pick who turned out to be serviceable.
Cripps - What's happened here, there seems to be nothing wrong with him. Poster child for the CFC recruiters.
Matthew Watson - Talented young defender taken the pick before Issac Smith in the draft .. oh wait they delisted him.
Warnock - Carlton needed a talented young ruckman, instead they got Warnock who is really really tall. Tall enough to be a ruckman in theory. ( Freo got Suban with the pick they traded ). Carlton has carefully managed his fitness to make sure he is never eligible for father son. Their best ruck recruit since Ackland.
Boekhurst - Knowing that they would be playing finals in 2015, Carlton needed a first rounder ready to play afl right away. Other options such as Goddard, would not be able to play until late in the season.
Yarran - As would be expected from a number 6 draft pick, Yarran is sometimes adequate.
Jones - Another mature player for the Finals campaign. Traded for a pick that gave the bulldogs Caleb Daniel. Once kicked 2 goals for Carlton.
Docherty - Carlton are pinning their future hopes on young players like Sam.
Viojo-Rainbow - he might be a good hb flanker, and how could they pass a name like that in the draft. The icing on the cake. Now to find a cake.
Rowe - A sensible young man, who given the opportunity to play football for Carlton and looking at the way they were travelling, thought he better finish his apprenticeship first . Even though he's a battler from a state league (27yo) , he comfortably outrucks Warnock, who as mentioned , is really tall.
Jacksh - a player who was cleverly poached from GWS who weren't playing him because...... well as it turns out he wasn't much good.
Giles - Fits the age profile and the general level of ruck talent. But they delisted him, probably to make room for Lleuenburger who was once an exciting young ruck prospect.
Holeman - Promising young mid who once got 13 disposals. Mainly useful for making Carlton's age profile slightly lower.
Tutt - Can sometimes run onto the ground and get the ball. So one of Carlton's elite.
Henderson - Has a bit of talent, so understandably wants to leave.
Whiley - Carlton traded a pick that could have landed them Jake Lever, for Jacksch and Whiley. Then they ask for a priority pick. ( Rolls eyes ).
Clem Smith - A small defender who played some games and got 12 disposals on occasion. Helps with the age profile.
Jayden Foster - Carlton cleverly bid on Foster in an attempt to make the dogs use their 4th rounder on him (cordy style ). Dogs were not interested and Carlton were stuck with him. A similar level of development as Payne in StKilda he helps Carlton with their age profile.
Armfield - 28 yo who is good enough to get a game with Carlton.
Bell - A half decent state league level player, Bell naturally turned out to be one of the best players on Carltons list. ( 24 yo).
Dick - Not good enough to get a game at Sydney, but a great source of jokes in the locker room. Helping with the age profile.
Graham - 21 year old who once got 26 disposals, so Carlton will probably name him captain.
Everett - 26 year old who is good enough to get a game with Carlton
Curnow - 25 year old and a drafting sucess story for Carlton. They managed to get a tagger.
Dale Thomas - Sorry i got nothing
Jamison - Great defender , 29 YO
Casboult - It is very important to have tall people in your AFL team.
Tuohey - 25 year old irish recruit who sometimes plays good footy
White - A tough defender who is probably not tall enough
Carrazzo - an underrated player, very good, now leaving this madhouse.
Ellard - After drafting him in 2008 , Carlton finally worked out that he's pretty ordinary and delisted him.

ROFL :thumbsu::D

Let's not forget the Weagles player flatlining on an end of season trip...

I had to laugh today when Worsfold got the Essendon gig and trying to explain what his plans for the future, this guy will be as successful as Roos at the Dees who is doing the job for the same reason MONEY.
Is it just me or does this man only have one move, at the West Coast Hunter to full forward then to full back. Next year his only move will be Hooker to full forward then to full back, as his counting his dollars, thankyou Essendon.

I find it quite hard to believe that the Bombers went to Worsfold. he was the coach at West Coast during the players illicit drugs spree in 2006. you would think the coach must've known something?

As batty said, that was good ol Chad, gained the moniker of flatline fletcher I believe and there was speculation it was drug induced as it was on an '06 trip to the USA where he choked on his own vomit.

Did WCE pay through the nose for Redden believing they'd get first round compo for Selwood? Is that why they're angry?
They should know that the compensation system was put in place to prevent the flow of free agents from the bottom clubs to the top clubs.
It's weighted accordingly.

Just had a check up on Rhys stanley on google. He has just restarted running after surgery on his lisfranc bone in June (on one of those low g treadmills). 4 pins in the foot is no laughing matter....

Then they really only have themselves to blame then don't they.
That, or the AFL 'strongly indicated' they would get a first rounder to try and avoid the situation of having a club match and hold a RFA and then suddenly changed their minds when the deal was done.

Especially for top clubs, the Cap space freed up by a player leaving is the only reward necessary for the departure of a free agent.

Carlton's the only one that's done it properly so far, in that Eddie left, and that Freed up the necessary cap space for Thomas. Now we can all laugh at that, because who in their right mind would do that, but the intention is correct, especially compared to some clubs who traded in players so as to not lose the compensation from free agents leaving them (Port Adelaide for Monfries after Chaplin left is the one that sticks out in my mind).

Some serious under rating of Geelong here.

The team just added in a top 5 midfielder in the AFL. Any team where Joel Selwood is your second best midfielder will make finals, and then they added in a ready to go KPP in Henderson.

The only way they will miss finals is if their suspect ruck department doesn't hold up, but between Stanley, Vardy and Z.Smith they should be covered.

Great trade period for them.

Not sure about your optimism. Henderson isn't & hasn't been a "ready to go" key position player....he has been a huge disappointment. Plus u are forgetting the carnage that is happening & will continue to happen to their list i.e trading players they have been developing for 3 or 4 years in Walker, Kersten & god knows who else. Dawson Simpson as well but he seems purely depth player. And Stanley, Vardy & Smith haven't held up injury & form wise for 5 years why would next year be any better? Plus Wells will have limited picks this year & NO number 1 pick next year...and he is the guru?

Henderson should be OK in a forward line that already has Hawkins.

It will be interesting to see if Geelong can trade it's way into another tilt. They have recruited well but they have lost some guns too. They are going all out....I guess if you get Dangerfield you kind of set yourself on a path. It will either see them as a long term middler or really tip them forward again. If guys like Mitch Clarke and Vardy don't play i think they will be around 10 to 8 again. If they get everyone firing I think about 5th is the best they could do still. I'm more worried that GCS and the Giants might start finding their feet next year.
