The whole scheduling of the GF is pretty strange. Seems a no brainer that it should have been a stand alone game played on the weekend off between the JLT and round one. It's just going to get lost among the noise and excitement of round one.
They did not expect anywhere near this level of interest.

There's been a suggestion to play it as the curtain-raiser to the Suns v Lions at Metricon. As Adelaide play at home on Sunday they won't be affected. Although there still is a slight possibility they could miss altogether. Unlikely though as percentage is difficult to make up at the end of the season. Carlton had a slight chance if they beat Freo and Melbourne beat Adelaide but they haven't started well in that and are 2 behinds to 3 goals down at quarter time.

How dumb is the AFLW having no time on? Brisbane are a goal up on the Bulldogs, 3 and a half minutes to go, a Bulldogs girl got knocked out so they've lost a minute of play until they called out the stretcher, which finally did stop the clock, albeit with less time for Bulldogs to snatch it.

Currently Adelaide hold on to 2nd place by 42%. Melbourne have Fremantle at Casey Fields next week while Adelaide have Collingwood at Olympic Park so they don't want to leave it till the last round. Also, if they lose this one then there is definitely no chance they can host the final.

oh man, I remember the last time Melbourne beat the Crers

2014, Melbourne beat them by 3 points, thousands walking out when they were down by 3 points, to Melbourne

it was a glorious week, we were on top of the ladder, and reminding them that we beat Melbourne at Adelaide Oval back in 2011, when we were shit

any tarp sledges were shut down with "they stuck around for four quarters"

I miss those times

In 1997 I remember when they walked out on our home Showdown at 3/4 time. We were 23 points up having just gone with the win and increased our lead from 16 points at half time. I remember thinking we were in a bit of trouble here as the weather had picked up and the 2.3 to 1.2 we kicked in the third quarter had not made the game safe. Obviously a lot of their supporters knew nothing about footy and must have felt pretty stupid when they got home and saw the result.

Well looks like Gabba Glory is in store for the Brisbane Lions girls as they are 6-0 and 1 game to go before the GF and the crows and melboure are 4-2 after tonight's win by melbourne.

The Metricon option may still be on, Lions have not ruled that out. Melbourne have sneaked up to give themselves a chance now but still need Adelaide to lose their last game. Melbourne could find themselves ruing that 1.9 they kicked to lose to GWS.

that's still in the top 5 games I've been to. thanks for reminding me.

Rucci reckons Brisbane have recruited a rugby league tackling coach to teach them how to tackle. A great move as women at this stage arent great at freeing up their arms and lifting them and the ball up and getting the handball away over the top of the tacklers arms.

Both Brisbane and Sydney in the AFL started working with rugby league clubs around 1995 to improve their tackling and they both rose up the ladder and stopped being easy beats.

Melbourne won 11.4(70) to 2.4(16). But they lead by 1 game and have a percentage of 141 to Adelaide's 159. So if Adelaide beat Collingwood they will go ahead of Melbourne. Unless Adelaide win by 76-71 or more. But that is pretty unlikely, Adelaide's highest scoring game has been 48 points and the highest in the AFLW is 70 points. Melbourne look like they're going to regret their kicking(1.9) against GWS who scored their only win with 3.2.

Crows have just made it very difficult for collingwood to catch them
Yeah, pretty much as I posted that, Adelaide kicked ahead. It's only 13 points, but I imagine they'll widen that in the third.
