That was the best game of AFL Womens I've seen so far. Very scrappy as always, but they're learning the importance of the handball and starting to run more and spread more through it and it's making for a far better spectacle. The result also can't help but put a smile on your face. Watching that and the cricket at the same time has been a good night!

Greg Phillips on ch7 news wearing Crows shirt, made me want to vomit.
If my kids played for the Liverpool Crows and were based in Swansea, England...I'd be wearing their shirt!

Was a really hard fought game between the two sides. First time I have heard a crowd boo at an AFLW game.
The loudest was when they thought they had a free for a high tackle but the umpire paid Frederick-Straub for having her legs taken out. But they weren't bothered when Perkins got a goal by tackling a Brisbane defender around her legs.

The afl site trying to inject some excitement by saying Collingwood has a chance although they're 2 games(with 2 to play) and over 100% out of a GF spot. Adelaide would have to fall in a heap to miss from here, even if Melbourne get over them next week and Carlton beat Freo Adelaide have Collingwood the next week and Adelaide have 51% over Carlton.

With Brisbane now at the top with two rounds to go surely the AFL can see that a GF on the same day as Brisbane's first men's round is a bad idea? Should Brisbane be top after 7 rounds they will have earned the right to host the GF but their supporters would have to choose between Metricon and the Gabba. A match at the Gabba would draw a good crowd but nowhere near what it would if Brisbane members as well as the general public were there. Surely the AFL can just change the day from the 25th to the 26th. In the past this has seemed the easiest thing to do but the AFL have for some reason said that it cannot be done because of "logistics". If logistics means that Gillon cannot get off his bum and put a stroke on a pen then maybe they're right.

The whole scheduling of the GF is pretty strange. Seems a no brainer that it should have been a stand alone game played on the weekend off between the JLT and round one. It's just going to get lost among the noise and excitement of round one.

That would have made it a bit too Mickey Mouse (Minnie Mouse?) as they would only have been able to play 6 rounds and wouldn't have been able to play every other team. In hindsight this probably wouldn't have affected who the two top teams are but the AFL wouldn't have known this before the fixture started. Actually, having another look at the AFL fixture it would seem that a night game on the 24th would be best as Adelaide AFL team plays on Sunday. This would maximise the TV audience and also would allow some Adelaide supporters to travel to Brisbane for the AFLW and return in time for the AFL.
