Saw this on CNN which struck me as odd as there wasn't much spectacular about it. Would have thought that Howe's mark would have been more of story to them.

The yanks have no idea. I have seen Andrew walkers mark and Steven mays bump on TV over here though. They consider a baseball catch with a giant glove spectacular. They would lose their mind if they ever saw some Ponting/Rhodes/Symonds/Collingwood catches

These next two are almost 8 point games, we had to win 2 of 3 against pies, dogs and WCE
Even the Swans game probably falls in that category, given if they're going to play finals, we're potentially one of the teams they'll have to knock out to get there. Such an important period for us, I really hope we're switched on tomorrow, and don't return to our normal "one week on, one week off"

Just realised we could go to 5th if we can get over the Bulldogs tomorrow. Still not feeling that optimistic - I think there might be a post-blockbuster hangover in progress... Hope I'm wrong. This is one of the 50-50s we need to win.

If we win tomorrow and then Collingwood knock off Port next week (which IMO is pretty likely) they'll be shitting themselves next week with the chance to go top 4 with a win against WCE. West Coast did a number on Geelong on Thursday and we'll again be travelling over there on a 6 day break after they've just played at home on a 9 day break (shithouse fixturing), but I reckon our midfield bats deeper than Geelong's with Gawn back hopefully. Esp if JJK doesn't get up or is rusty.

But again I'm getting ahead of myself. So excited for tomorrow's game, haven't been this keen since ANZAC Eve and maybe even that wasn't as exciting.

Port Adelaide were witches hats against Essendon and unconvincing for most of the day yesterday as well. I'll be tipping the pies.

A win and we're 5th, and only out of the top 4 on percentage.

... but we'd still only be two games ahead of 15th.

A win and we are a game and percentage in the eight.

When it gets to this many teams being this close, that's golden. The odds of multiple teams jumping a side with that buffer in one week are unlikely due to the fixture as much as anything.

Admission: I didn't think much of the recruitment of Mitch Hannan in last year's draft, and waved dismissively at Stevo's suggestion that he'd be automatic best 22..

But damn, I love the kid. He is a ball of combustible energy and he can kick a goal before he's even collected it safely in his hands. Controls the space above him, below him and watch out if you're a defender trying to clear the ball out of D50. Can't imagine our forward line without him now. Jason Taylor now edging Brendan McCartney in MVP stakes.

Warney's IPL team!
Yep. I don't think it's an excuse this week, but by the Swans game there could be some pretty tired players out there.
I really hope we play well on a Friday night, apparently you have to earn Friday night games but sides like Essendon and Carlton were gifted 6 Friday night games. Our only one for the last 5 years has been the Anzac eve.

Four years ago I couldn't have predicted with any confidence that in mid 2017 the Melbourne Football Club would even exist in its current form.

This is actually incredible. :footy:
Amen brother. We were on the precipice staring at oblivion. Was actually scary. All Melbourne supporters should take a private moment to acknowledge just how far we have come.
