Amen brother. We were on the precipice staring at oblivion. Was actually scary. All Melbourne supporters should take a private moment to acknowledge just how far we have come.
Remember those years? First the tanking where I was happy to lose for a draft pick because we thought it would get us superstars, to bailey's sides that could only beat interstate sides at the g and richmond and couldn't beat anyone that was good. To Neelds team where games were over 5 minutes into the first quarter and our best moment was an 11? Goal last quarter against a terrible GWS side

Paul Roos and Peter Jackson seriously need a statue

Yeah, I miss the dark times too.

The sad reality though, is that we have to go through these periods of actually winning games every once in a while, or they'll fold us and then that sweet pain of being a pathetic Melbourne supporter will be over forever.

By my calculations we just have to do endure until the first Saturday in October 2019 when, just as things are at their worst, we're in a Grand Final and daring to dream of premiership, we'll have the most glorious crescendo of a record defeat to send us plummeting back to those honeyed depths of self-loathing and exquisite disappointment.

All this 6 day talk stuff is nonsense, mark Thompson on 360 said his players were always terrible after the bye then they showed his record was 7-4
Same thing here, 6 day breaks are just an excuse
Damn right. They are pro athletes. Should be able to play a game 6 days after another one haha it's basically a week.

Also that sounds like ******* hilarious tv re bomber Thompson.

****en aye. I sometimes got real pissed off after our close losses at the start of the year but in the context of where we were I think you realise how far we've improved and how significant our season thus far has been.

Just enjoy the ride.

Of those above us/on even points with us:

- Adelaide: Lost 3 games, average losing margin 40.66 points
- GWS: Lost 3 games, average losing margin 26.66 points
- Geelong: Lost 4 games, average losing margin 21 points
- Port Adelaide: Lost 5 games, average losing margin 26.4 points
- West Coast: Lost 5 games, average losing margin 26.6 points
- Richmond: Lost 5 games, average losing margin 19.4 points

Melbourne Football Club. Lost 5 games, average losing margin 12.2 points

We've not been beaten badly by anybody, and our average winning margin is 32 points (can't be bothered doing the analysis against the rest of the league). I just sense that the boys really think that they can beat anybody, from any situation.

******* excited by these campaigners!

Our margin is blown out by the Geelong game, like Richmond's is blown out by the Adelaide game. Not exactly the same because Richmond were useless against Adelaide and we were hard done by against Geelong, but I thought I'd mention it

This is true. But we're yet to receive one genuine heavy beating. That's exciting. Cue West Coast....

I don't think we'll get belted this year. We might lose each of our remaining games but we won't get belted. And it just comes down to our intensity. If we'd brought this in 2013 even we'd have been thrashed in fewer games, and our percentage would have been higher. You don't need to be 'good at football' to pressure and tackle your opponent, you just need to try. Which comes down to the coach and the belief. It's all between the ears at the end of the day...
