Find it cringe you'd boast about a private phone conversation tbh.

I don't see much difference between Green and his predecessor, lot of yapping with no realistic views.
Green seems full nuffy lets all love the club, Roffey had a more condescending tone in a lot of her comms. Agree it's a lot of air without much substance in either case

Geez pretty harsh IMO. Bloke talked about losing his wife, the depression he had from it, raising his boys without their mum, emotional conversations with players etc. Can't possibly compare that to 'MAKE MORE NOISE!'.

It might just be a case of lines being blurred. Like there is a lot of grey areas between Brad Green the President and Brad Green the Person.

I've said for a long time our club comms lack authenticity, so personally I think it's a good thing if our president is showing he's a person. Much needed when we've had the cardboard Roffey and Pert at the forefront, and given how plain Goody is.

I think the comms have been better under Green but have also noticed the past couple of weeks, the creep of waffle coming back.

We have this interview with Green, another one Goodwin did a few weeks ago and then again on Channel 7 last night.
Once again we're making a big preemptive statements about what we stand for as a club rather than just letting our footy do the talking.

Yeah I really don't think the results of the fan survey were we need more bravado.

Let's see if Greens so generous with his words if we start 0-3 or is he gonna be tweeting about greatness while Gawns fronting the actual media again

They've definitely been on the rampage with the publicity - Makes sense though given they desperately need an uplift in membership this year.

Disagree though that the focus has been preemptive statements. It's mostly been talking about what has happened, don't reckon there's been many predictions etc.

Memberships will come with results. I think after how out of control things got last year it would be good for everyone to fly under the radar.

100% agree that results are the biggest factor.

I think there's a difference though between the comms they've put out over the last week or so and coming out and making empty promises again. They've come out and talked about the process of what they've gone through, put out some more clarity around situations that dogged us last year - There's been no 'we promise..' kind of stuff though.

Flying under the radar doesn't mean you don't tell your supporters anything, especially at a time when they need to actually communicate with them for a change. Flying under the radar is not making promises or talking up the expectations, and that's what they've done, so, at least so far, I'm ok with what has been said and done.

The real test is on the field once the real stuff starts - Not just win or loss and how we play, but what they say about it.

It's not even that it's the whole "we all love each other now, all water under the bridge." We've just replaced 'culture' with 'love'.

If that's true, they don't need to talk about it. It will be obvious the longer we go without off-field drama.

Yeah that's fair my point was though they it's all well and good to applaud them for talking more, nows the easy time to talk. The criticism of the last guys was that when it was difficult they were dead quiet and left it to Gawn

I think Brad's been fine. Absolutely nothing wrong with that conversation with Clarry. It's between those two anyway. Why tf is it even relevant? Brad wears his heart on his sleeve a bit too much, but as a stop gap, I think he's been pretty good. Nothing wrong with how the club are presenting themselves preseason. He's navigated a tricky period pretty well. Results will be on Goodwin. Green will step down end of year and we move on.

I was a bit concerned when he first came in as he's not the sharpest operator - But think he's concentrated on the simple stuff and done a pretty good job so far. Supporter re-engagement was pretty crucial after the last 3 years, so I don't mind hearing some of the behind the scenes stories, supporters lap that up.

Will be interesting - The plan seems to be Green as caretaker, then Smith (who will get a more future-looking board), and then Green will be back in down the track. Hopefully means Green can learn the caper from Smith and then be a more polished operator when he comes in again.

Anyone hear/see the interview with Goody and Rebecca Madden?

Goody was talking about the players all having love for each other and so on and Madden said something like 'so the players are all to love each other.' to which Goody responded 'yes' and she just started laughing at him out loud mid interview.

Found a link to the interview: https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/melb...istian-petracca-and-clayton-oliver-c-17880697

To be fair to Green I forgot he is effectively an interim in the position.

Smartest move since he came in was paying off Bartlett to stfu. Should have happened years ago.

What's the team for those who don't have/want a HeraldSun subscription?
What's the paywall avoider the cool kids use nowadays?
Dunno, I also don't have a Hun subscription.

I completely misread the headline and thought it would be a best 22 from our terrible period between 07-17.

Now I'm even more confused as the premise is basically 'we picked the best Melbourne team of the past 25 years without including any of the worst players!'
