On the disposal front, I looked at the AFL web site at our player disposal efficiency. It seems like BS to me.
How do they decide if a kick is effective?

If you retain posession I think. Might even be if you don't lose posession so if it goes to a contest it's also effective if your player touches it next

Disposal efficiency is a bit of a rubbish stat because of how it's judged. There's things that count as an 'effective disposal' that you would look at and go nah that's no good.

Kick retention is the best one IMO, but I don't think it's publicly available anywhere.

Yeah if we can't get someone actually decent from elsewhere I'd rather just stick with Chippandall even for a year then when we've got a new coach and Smith is President we can potentially have another look once things have settled.

Have the CEO role settled, Smith taken over and a new GM of footy and all of a sudden doors might open easier in our search for a new coach.

Troy Chaplin was going to fix the F50 tho. WHAT HAPPENED???

It's not the F50 that's the problemo.
It's the method from exiting our D50 too slowly... and our transition thru the corridor that is not happening.

All our senior players have become far too safe, after years of playing the boundary line, taking Mtrs, and have a stoppage.

The problem:
Based on the stats, the more we pass the ball around by foot or hand, the more likely we are to give the ball to the opposition.

Maybe some hand ball and kicking practice would help.

Stats scats.

Of course the stats show poor results... we've only just started to try to change our method of offence and transition to a quicker style.

Expect quite a few misses as we learn to trust in this.

That video shared earlier gave a few examples of times we could have gone lateral rather than long to the pocket or to a poor contest, so I wouldn't say we're 'not capable' but perhaps 'not trained to properly'. It's a habit they've been trying to remedy for years.

Definitely agree the numbers forward thing is an issue. Baffled as to why a backline with multiple All-Australians in it has the need to have the forwards flood back there to help them. Seeing JVR and Chandler often in the backline is pretty frustrating. I'm not sure on getting in inside 50 faster, I think we do that now and it's a bit of a mess, but I do think we need to transition it from defence faster rather than go chip, chip, chip, boundary.

We're the worst team in the comp fro scoring from turnover, and that's THE key performance metric these days.

I don't mind a short kick exit as long as the player who receives it, then moves quickly to get into the corridor and create overlap run.
