Been watching some of our old games from 2002-6
I can't believe Clin Bartram and Matthew Bate debuted in the same year as Nathan Jones. Both could have played in the 06 finals. Always associated them with tanking years

Bartram would have been a good role player in our current side.

Around 2009-10, Jones probably looked to have the least promising future of them. We needed goal kickers and defensive smalls. We had Moloney, McLean/Gysberts/McDonald, McKenzie, Sylvia, Trengove and Scully as inside mid options. Shows the character of the bloke.

On thé one hand things probably would have worked out better for us if all those guys had come on and Jones hadn’t played 300 games. On the other hand, given the way things did play out when they didn’t if he hadn’t stuck it out at the club and played 300 games we might not be where we are now.

I remember Matthew Bate looked really promising in the bailey years. Was our second highest goal scorer in 09 with 27 goals just behind Robbo with 29. Then in 2011 the dogs offered a pick in the 30s for him but wasn't traded as we had a change of coach that year.

Was not good. Took the crowd a while to get in sync to sing a long and was too drawn out, basically ruined it by trying to put a different take on it.

Bartram wouldn't get a game in our side lol he was one of the all time worst kicks. Could do a job for a bottom side maybe

Youre right played 22 then dropped. Completely forgot that.

We went with the extra tall down back with Holland against the saints maybe the reason

He wasn't dropped.

He did his ankle in the last game against Adelaide Crows. Had to get stretched off unfortunately.

Was a shit game. Was shocked that we won the EF after that. Stumbled towards the end of the year again after being in third and one game off second.

Legit all they needed to do after R17 was beat both the bottom three Roos and Blues and either win a home game v Sydney after beating them at the SCG or kick 1 more point v Geelong to guarantee top 3 and be playing off against the Crows in R22 for second spot lol.

I still maintain that Lamb should have been given more of a go, showed at least some potential.

I think so too, haven't heard a peep from the club re: vaccines. Up to him whether he wants to sacrifice his career or not.

BBrown has had at least one dose (on his insta a few weeks back after the GF).
Heard there were clinics being run at Casey for the public, not sure if any players went and got it too if they're popping in for training etc?

All three of those players had very good debut years in 2006. It definitely helped that we still had some decent senior players around and some semblance of a gameplan.

I dont think its any coindence that from 2007 onwards, a lot of our junior players fell off a cliff. The club entered a very dark period and it wasn't conducive at all to player development.

McLean for example was terrific in 2006, injured himself R1 of 2007 and IMO his career never recovered.

Nope played two games in 1999 then didn't play again until 2001. Waverley Park long gone by then.
