I know that we hate this topic (particularly with my long-standing views) but this year if we don't get more than 4 wins/win the spoon we will certainly give the PP a shake. The rule was 4 wins or less two years running...this will be 4 years running, despite turning over the board and coaching panel halfway through.
Can't see us getting one - we'll be getting Jack Trengove back next season, a #2 pick from years ago who will magically make us much, much better. We're more likely to get 4 games against Carlton, Gold Coast and St Kilda to drag us up the ladder than a priority pick.
Not a chance in hell well get one, and I don't want us to even ask.
The reasons we didn't get one last year are even stronger this year.
Also, the AFL have clearly said the priority pick will only be for extenuating circumstances - not for just being shit.

We aren't getting one and we don't need one.Nope. The same arbitrary argument was made with Trengove 2 years ago and Clark. Look how that turned out.
I think if we win less than 5 there will be a serious look.
We aren't getting one and we don't need one.
Agree. Why wouldn't we? If we don't fit the bill, who would? We should definitely still ask. I'd like us to continue asking even if we're making finals or better. No one should get one ever again if we couldn't get one after Neeld's last season and the damage he'd wrought to the list.
I'd love one. The melt down from the rest of the AFL world would be fabulous.

Along with free agency and the various academies. Until they do all of the currently weak clubs in Victoria will just be pissing into the wind.Exactly. If, say, the AFL decides Carlton or Gold Coast need a priority pick, then we'd be able to turn around ask them why we were rejected 6 times in a row, or however many times we've asked. As mentioned before, they should just bin the priority pick.
Oh absolutely they should bin it. I remember Merc documenting it perfectly that according to their own rules we should have been certs to get one (at least). Then again, I'm sure we are being made to pay for our various past misdemeanors in the eyes of AFL House..Exactly. We don't need one? If we don't, then I don't think anyone in the past or future ever would, so maybe they just shouldn't exist thenWell yeah it would but realistically we don't need one but yes that would amuse me greatly as well.
Except most of the AFL bar a slimy few (read Barrett and Wilson) have forgotten now or are over it.Oh absolutely they should bin it. Ruckmen always take longer to come on than other types.
I could understand a few of his trades and delistings, but Martin was a surprise to me.
I don't think it was a particularly obvious one myself.
Like I said, I certainly didn't expect this sort of form from him, though.
All I remember is him having a great half season as the number one ruck with Jamar injured and then Neeld playing him up forward the next and Stef having no idea.
Didn't do much as a forward at Bris, played ruck and has got great results.
Yeah, when he left it was a bit of a shrug. Not sure how people are saying they knew he was going to become a great ruckman - half a good season here, couldn't get a game for a season and a half at Brisbane until there were no other ruck options left. Then boom. You see that coming, then go get a job as a scout for AFL clubs because clearly very few people did.
You turn on players week by week mate so I'm not surprised you didn't think he could be a good ruckman.
