Very old news I know but apparently in 2011 we offered Clarkson a 6 year deal, I never knew that.
I remember rumours about it floating around, that Lyon begged Clarkson as a friend. Didn't realise it was that long. Offers for Clarkson come up every year but he's very much entrenched at Hawthorn

It had failure written all over it from the start tbh. We brought in an inexperienced coach in Bailey then sacked him, logic would dictate you don't get another inexperienced coach. Even someone like Mark Williams would have been better.

I think we are in a good spot now but we wasted all of 2008-2013 which set the club back so much.

I remember ranting about exactly that at the time. If you've failed with a rookie coach once, you've surely got to turn to an experienced one next ... and then out strolls that bloke ...

I'm bringing this up coz I feel like it but who reckons Daniel Cross would still get a game this year? I remember some were divided about the fact he wasn't offered a new deal after 2015 given he came 6th in the B n F that year.

Not considering that we needed to retire him to make room for other players to be traded in, and his age, would you pick him if he was still on our list?

Agree with both above. There were a few moments last year when he was in a foot race with opposition and he looked like the slowest player in the AFL. He made up for it by being smart and reading the play exceptionally, but speed is a necessity with our reverse pagans paddock defensive plan this year.

Potentially unpopular opinion, but on more than a couple of occasions this season I've thought 'what if Melksham was available at half back'. I'm curious and am looking forward to seeing him play the role next year. Hunt I can see the potential, not sold on Wagner yet. I think he'd add more than both of the first year players.

I've thought the same thing. His kicking is far above what those two you've mentioned offer.

Hearing murmurs about McDonald lately. Although we get them all the time with Hogan, stuff is starting to circle
I feel like if Tmac was to leave after getting a taste of what could be to come this year, then he's a bit dumb. I remember how psyched he was to have Oscar at the club, seems a bit weird he'd change his loyalties now.

What I'm saying is, these murmurs are bad murmurs.

That's just what we need after having lost Frawley a couple of years ago
Yeah i've been hearing stuff over the last couple of weeks, that's the same. But as i said they're just murmurs at the moment. What made me bring it up now, is that it was brought up on, 'on the couch' tonight

Players view these decisions a lot less emotionally than I think we like to imagine. If he's got a decent offer from somewhere else, and we're treating him with contempt (contract-wise), I can see why he'd look elsewhere.

Hit SEN a couple of times. Interestingly the only time Tom's actually been asked about it he's said that the deal will get done, it's about the detail. Was a couple of months ago now.
