I feel like if Tmac was to leave after getting a taste of what could be to come this year, then he's a bit dumb. I remember how psyched he was to have Oscar at the club, seems a bit weird he'd change his loyalties now.

What I'm saying is, these murmurs are bad murmurs.
It doesn't shut my ears off though

Also, TMac comfortably nets us a first if he walks and possibly a top-10 pick. Maybe even our pick back from the Suns which we then send to Essendon for Hurley in such an event.
For some reason I thought he was an RFA, but I think you're right. Don't know about top ten but late first early second + steak knives probs.

Just read a Herald Sun article from Feb that talks about how the devil is in the detail for Tom. Wouldn't be surprised if we're trying to get a nice long deal out of him and he would prefer shorter term but still good $$. Keeps his options open if (when?) we go down the gurgler...

EDIT: RFA not UFA

I think the huge thing is still this bloody CBA. Lot of players going to be looking at the free agency rules. Or TMac could be looking for a 2-year deal to try and test FA under the eight-year rule.

I like Mcdonald so preferably i'd like to keep him, but a potential Hurley would help move me on fast

Also not to rumble into Clark territory, but it'd be a pretty dick move to plead with the club to draft Oscar and then leave

Potentially unpopular opinion, but on more than a couple of occasions this season I've thought 'what if Melksham was available at half back'. I'm curious and am looking forward to seeing him play the role next year. Hunt I can see the potential, not sold on Wagner yet. I think he'd add more than both of the first year players.
Might have been unpopular pre season, but apart from Jetta everything else is major dodgy. I'll take Melksham on a "who knows" basis any day

Would be staggered of Tom left.. Has been one of our few shining lights the last 3 years, super dedicated and works his ass off.. added to the leadership group at the start of the year and playing with his brother.. Anyone else think this sounds like a manager trying to beef up a contract?

just doesn't make sense but hey weird shit happens in this game

I've had a bit much of the tmac bullshit honestly. Sign you flog. I would overall like to keep him because his best is v good. But if he wants to get money elsewhere then **** him? I'm not convinced any of our wins this year were on his back at all. That was the early 2015 model- the one he appears to be basing his dollar worth on..,

I'm not sure if it's the players we select or the effect that playing for Melbourne has on our players, but why is it that we always seem to have some of the most narcissistic, self-absorbed, disloyal players in the competition? Players holding out for better contracts, players who want to wait and see how the team performs instead of becoming the instigator for change... I feel like we have had more than our fair share of these 'cool understanding nineties types'.

We can possibly excuse players from the Neeld era because **** Neeld, who could blame them but the 2016 Melbourne outfit is clearly on the up. Players such as TMac need to stop acting like primadonnas and see the bigger picture of what we are building here.

Jesus Christ the MB Rhys Mathieson thread, you'd think judging by the Brisbane supporters that we'd shot Bambi...
I'm yet to see a single Brisbane fan in that thread admit to his tactics being even a little bit dodgy. It's cringe worthy to see such blind faith in a player. Contrast them to the Dogs fans in the McLean thread, the vast majority said they hate his staging and want it stamped out of his game.

I'd like to think if one of our youngsters came into the side and started drawing frees like a soft cock, we'd be man enough to admit it.

If he leaves then Frost an Omac are are only 2 young key defenders aka we are stuffed

It's funny to see blokes wiping him already on a rumour .. he's 23? Rance was shit when he was young aswell key backs need time like key forwards
Plays his 100th game later this year. How long are we meant to wait? I don't think he is a hack but I think he is at best a B grade tall and he is a very frustrating player to watch.

He might not be intelligent enough to play in our diamond defence but honestly he needs a bigger bodied back line Dunn to take the wrestling defender
His strength is he is athletically able to make it to contests you wouldn't think he could
His weakness is his decision making and his spoiling .. always spoils it to a poor spot

My problem is he is a dumb footballer who also isn't great 1 on 1. I don't think Frost is a smart footballer but IMO he is a lot better in a wrestle (Funnily enough they are listed as the same height and virtually the same weight, but Frost looks a lot bigger than TMac on the ground). If you are a dumb footballer you need to be very strong in just about every other area.

I do agree he needs Dunn though, if we don't have at least one of Frost/Dunn come in this week to play back Dixon will slaughter us.
