Yeah he had, was a good prospect who was tipped to go even higher than 8, guess Heeney pushed him down and the bid more Moore otherwise he was top 5 in the draft behind, McCartin, Brayshaw, Petracca and degoey?
Yeah i think that's about right. Ironically the Bulldogs were reported to be hugely into him predraft with pick 6 before they flogged it off to GWS along with Griffin for Boyd.

He's a really nice shot on goal and a beautiful mark on the lead. My major knock on him was that he didn't have much contested marking ability and was a bit soft body on body. A lot like Watts for pros and cons really. Evidently he's worked on these things since getting to the GC.

I remember there being concerns about something which is why he went at 5*
He looks incredible .. his marking and strength in the contest for a second year player at the size of a Ruckman is amazing especially with the way modern footy is now with tall forwards all the rage
I reckon if you redid the draft today the saints take him number 1 because he has the potential be a superstar ... funny that he probably wouldn't have got a game if they still had Dixon and aren't the Bulldogs gonna regret not taking him

I don't think his game was rising star nom worthy
29 touches looks good but half our team got 20 touches , Calum Mills deserves it

Agree Callum Mills played well.. I think Hunt did more than just 29 possessions. Lots of pressure acts and huge metres gained.

I get your point with a lot of our players getting touches but I also think just about any young player could slot into Sydney's midfield as their 10th best mid and get 23 touches.

Yeah hunts defensive work and pressure is awesome but his meters gained is a little inflated because of his tendency to bomb it long ... for instance I bet Brent Moloney would have had high meters gained but they weren't damaging once Robbo retired but yeah hunts gonna bet one soon
Mills played in defence for the cats and I thought he had more of an impact on the result

Anyone visited the Brisbane board lately? Shit is eerie. It's like looking into the Melbourne board circa 2013. They're even comparing Leppa's winning record with Mark Neeld's.... (Scarily similar)

Makes me appreciate Roosy and PJ even more.
The fact that the AFL are getting involved reminds me a lot of Melbourne 2013

You don't need to visit their board to see the similarities. Ousted Adcock a year early, struggling to retain talented youngsters, terrible training facilities, poor financials, under funded footy dept...deserve AFL assistance imo.

Tempted to go on the main board with the forbidden words, just to give the Strike a nice busy day catching up.

Defensively they are worse than Melbourne ever were under Neeld (according to the MB squiggle), which is quite a remarkable achievement. It takes some serious shitness to get close to our level of shitness under Neeld.

Edit: Tom Gillies

I honestly feel sorry for the Lions fans
No one should ever watch their footy club be as bad as we were or they almost are now
So easy for people to stick the boot in but they have nothing to come back with
Teams just stagnated at its worst point ..horrible feeling

Does feel very Melbourne - their supporters seem like the last dudes on the titanic without even Super's blog. I don't see a clear way out either, but if the AFL want to help it has to be a senior coach plus competent administrator as CEO type deal.

Paul Roos and PJ showed you can turn a club around reasonably quickly
The AFL should give them a retention allowance that's only for players on their 1st or 2nd contracts and then help them find a new coach and pay for all his assistants and physios etc
Every side should have a chance

It seems wrong to me that the Fitzroy / Bears meld gets left rotting while the new toys get attention. If AFL want a Qld audience they should start at the beginning. Also I really liked that team when they were flying and it's depressing to see what they are struggling with now.

The brisbane lions were getting crowds of 25-30000 when they were up an going .. it's disgusting how the AFL treats teams who already have support in order to hand premierships to a team who no one cares about

On this if nothing else I think we probably agree. AFL searching for yet unexplored markets has screwed over the real supporters in NSW and QLD. It would be better to show some persistence for the supporters already there then to go all out to capture attendance from a transient or 10yearolds.

I hope the AFL gets a tonne of Muslim and Asian and Lebanese support and everything it's after in western Sydney because the games losing support in the heartland
