Have a friend that has changed her mobile number twice this year (issues with old boyfriend). So I have 3 SMS threads for her but would like to combine into one under her current number? Would this be possible with an iPhone? Jailbreak app perhaps, or something on the computer?

Tried running a Google search for this. I'm running CCLeaner and it comes up with this as en enabled Startup task:

{8EE971FC-604F-454C-more letters & numbers

Any idea what this is?
Not exactly sure but it might be your MAC address (still doesn't make any sense why it would be an enabled startup task)?

If you go start and in the search type "cmd", once that loads up type "getmac" and hit enter. Under transport name is that the same lot of letters and numbers that are popping up? If not then it's not y our MAC address.

It's not a MAC address, it's a program GUID. If you run a search in regedit you might be able to find out what it is. It's possibly something you've uninstalled at one point that didn't remove itself properly.

I have just got a new laptop with windows 8 on it.

Have been trying to set up my optusnet.com.au email address on the new computer but something is not right.

It's set up, but its not the same as it was on my old computer. The normal outlook screen isn't there and its some ridiculously oversimplified screen. There is no way to create new folders. Some test emails were sent from my Hotmail account and those emails came through to my iphone (with the same optusnet.com.au address) but have not come through on the computer yet. I've sent some test emails from the computer but they are "stuck" in the outbox.

Okay, for some reason, no matter what computer game I play, it minimises frequently early in the day. Yet during the evening and late at night, it usually runs fine for hours. I have no idea what's causing it. I've looked into it. It's not Steam's in-game settings, it's not visual themes or desktop composition, it's not the internet, it's not anti-virus software. Whatever it is, it's pissing me off. I'm using a desktop (Windows 7).

Ok so on the new youube is it possible to search by upload date?
becuase they give you the option for vids that were uploaded "today", "last week" etc ettc but I want to find vids that have been uploaded in the last few minutes
cheers :)

Was just wondering if anyone could help us with this issue.

My MacBook Pro won't let me move any items to trash anymore for some reason. If I stick a USB stick in, it'll let me delete items from there, but not from the general downloads folder. So I've got dozens of movies I've downloaded clogging up my laptop. When I try to, it this pop-up comes up saying "enter password to allow changes to computer", which I do but to no effect. When i try to empty the trash it's all greyed out and obviously won't let me. I googled the problem and apparently it's quite common, but buggered if I know how to fix it.

Anyone else had this issue?? Any help much appreciated.

Do a search, then once it is loaded, add this to the end of the URL:
&search_sort=video_date_uploaded

****s sake

Just got a new hdtv.
On my OLD tv i had to use an " AV SELECTOR "
On my new tv i hit INPUT to change settings - " AV " , " HDMI 1 " , " HDMI 2 " etc.

1 set of " Red yellow white " ports on side of tv and also the " HDMI 2 " port.
so thats where i plug my ps3 cables.....no problem.
Have foxtel running through another set of red yellow white cables.

On bottom of tv there is the " HDMI 1 " port and a " RED " port ( no yellow or white....but 2 ORANGE ports....)
So it would seem i can ONLY run foxtel through the ports on the side of the tv

If i plug the ps3 HDMI cable into the BOTTOM port and plug the RED ps3 av cable in , will it work ??

Don't want to have to get up and change the av cables every 20 minutes....tried plugging the av selector back in last night and NADA...NUTHIN

Kinda defeats the purpose of an INPUT function on the tele if this doesnt work

EDIT - ahhh the ps3 will work using hdmi ONLY :thumbsu:

this sounds like a permissions issue, when you enter you're password are you sure that you're user has administrative rights? if you right click and view get info it should say who is the owner of the files... if it is you then that is a fairly peculiar problem

Thanks mate. Had this issue for a few months, but now it's seemed to have resolved just as suddenly as it happened. Don't know how, but it's all good now. Cheers. :thumbsu:

Yep I've had a very slow TPG connection for 2-3 days as well. Also have been disconnected with the PPP light (mainly) going out on the modem. Tried re-booting, turning off modem etc - been connecting on and off.

I always figured that was a TPG "feature" Knowing them it will just be network/exchange congestion.

Ha ha yes TPG Tech support did mention exchange line congestion - also they ran a line test and noticed dropouts from my end - meaning Telstra. I already had static on the landline for a few days, so I contacted Telstra who are sending out a Tech.....

hmmmm does anyone sign in as a user for google chrome?

i've crossed to the dark side and doing this, but it's not downloading my extensions onto the new computer. it worked on one OS on the other computer, but it's not working on the new computer. there's about 30 extensions. ****ing pain in the ass to go get them all again....

i really don't see anything else your supposed to do. sign in, go to settings, sync settings as sync the data. extensions is definately checked, everything else synched.

EDIT: the issue could be because i'm using a different OS. the original OS was ubuntu and then it synched correctly to another computer running ubuntu.. on this laptop i'm running mint.

And as much as i hate to say it, as up until about 12-18 months ago i was more of a firefox man (although i ran both browsers without much of a preference towards either) chrome has gone so far past firefox it's not funny.

so this is a pretty interesting general problem

was using my mac on the couch, went to move to my bedroom so i flicked the mag charger off and the head landed in a cup of water :(.

so yeah i took it out immediately, dried it rigorously and let it rest overnight and now it works again.

my question is does this pose any danger to my mac? should i buy a new one?

Sounds like the current isn't strong enough to ark through water, so the only potential damage should be from water damage in the plug itself. If you're worried about it stick the plug end in a cup of rice for a day or two just in case there's any leftover moisture.

Cheers, Everything seems normal now so i'm pretty satisfied i'm alright.

not a problem but just a general gripe about apple i'll feel better for getting out into cyberspace.

we do web dev at work here, but for one project built last year (before i was here) we made an iphone app along with the web-site which we got a subcontractor to do as no one here does i phone apps. now we need to make some changes to the app, and it's not worth getting a subcontractor in because their only minor. so i go to download xcode, but the current version 4.2 doesn't run on the mac's we have at work, snow leopard 10.6.8. The process involved to download xcode 3.2 has been ridiculous - couldn't even find a download for old versions of xcode of apples developer portal. And even now it's still downloading from a third party link so i'm not assured it's even going to run. what should've just been an easy download has turned into an hour long mission.

i just think it's pretty outrageous that a major piece of development software is not even capable of running on an operating system, that up until 18 months ago was the most companies flagship OS. to me it just reeks of trying to make people buying a new computer long before they get outdated. generally i like apples products, even though for computing their a long way behind any good unix or linux distro, but their business practices and they way they treat consumers is well beyond questionable.
