My plan is Optus 120GB Naked Broadband with Premium Speed Pack.

Still on my very old Motorola Surfboard modem though, Optus sent new Cisco modem to my folks and with any luck I'll set it up late Friday.

My average speed is 32.9 Mbps.

Does anybody know the Disconnection fee for iiNet? Been with them for like 5-6 months :p No contract.

Can't seem to find any set fee.

Looking at the TPG Unlimited plans. $30 per month sounds to good to be true. Surely that isn't the full cost (excluding Phone charges). I am currently paying like $79.90 per month (49.95 internet, 29.95 phone rental). TPGs page looks like $59.99 (29.99 + 30) for Unlimited + Phone.

Am I seeing this correct?

If so, I want to change asap. My NBA cravings need to be fulfilled.

How do I configure Firefox so that I remain logged into sites with passwords? Eg. I can come straight onto BigFooty or Facebook and still be logged in from last time? I've set the options in a way that I think would enable it ('active logins' box unticked in the browser history clearance section), but it doesn't work. I used to have it set that way, but had to get my hard drive replaced recently, which meant I had to re-install.

I can't get Last.fm to scrobble from iTunes or my iPod either, but it works on Windows Media Player

When you login, tick the option "Remember Me?"

If you use password management software such as 1Password, Roboform, SplashID etc, there's probably some setting to auto login.

Which browser do you use? Firefox can save your username/password.

I am using Firefox, and it to do it (I'd just click on BigFooty or Facebook or any other user name/password site that I go to and I'd be logged in), but had to get my hard drive replaced recently, which meant I had to re-install, and now I can't get it to go back to those convenient settings.

A while ago someone had a bit of a play around on my computer. Ever since then I can't get sound when I am recording using webcam. I've tried adjusting all the settings for sound in the control panel but just can't get it.

Need to enable Cookies. Don't use FF, so don't know the exact locations. But it should be in privacy or something similar.

Awesome! New download record!

Just thinking out loud. If I had to think of my current technical issues, they would be:
- ripping video from ABC and SBS sites from Mac OS preferably (or Windows)
- setting up a trustworthy US proxy for viewing video content on US sites (eg. mtv.com, hulu.com)
- set up email filters so I can receive an SMS for selected emails (I use gmail)

i need help regarding a problem with foxtel/bigpond and splitter/filter?

so we have foxtel iq in the lounge room. we've always had our internet modem in the study room. both rooms have their own wall socket where there is no telephone and so you can just directly plug in the line. our home telephone is in the kitchen and uses its own wall socket as well so theres no way i know of that i can install a filter/splitter that combines any of the two as all 3 devices using wall sockets are in different rooms. today we installed a bigpond modem in the study and got rid of our old internet as it was too slow.

however now when the foxtel and bigpond lines are both in their respective wall sockets the internet does not receive a steady connection and i need to remove the foxtel line in order to get the internet to work without turning off every 2 minutes.

i've been on the phone to both telstra and foxtel for the best part of 3 hours today only for them to both blame each other. the only option either is giving me is to send out a person to install the filter/splitter for a charge. however my dad is not paying for this and i was wondering if there's anything i can do. i have two splitter/filters that bigpond sent out to me with the modem. any help will be appreciated. :)

read the instructions mate. You put the filter that bigpond gave you on any device connected to the same phone number whether that be fax, phone or foxtel.

You place it between the wall socket and your device.

Just a question with speedtest.net and the pingtest.net

Here are my results for speedtest

and for pingtest

Do you guys get poor packet loss or is it just me? I have checked this multiple times for a couple of months now and I always seem to have an 88% packet loss. Are there any reasons as to why this is and how I could fix it? Also, with a packet loss like that, what is it likely to effect with my internet anyways?
Replaced my modem and router and just got a modem/router.

Wish I got the same download speeds as some of you guys, my plan got upgraded to 1TB per month but I can't download fast enough to cap that!
