Ok, I'll try it next time I'm at uni or in the city. I'm assuming most of the ones people are using in public are unsecured (not requiring a password)?

Most likely, although there are plenty of free wi-fi setups where the owners will put a password on to avoid too many freeloaders.

Is there a way to have Windows XP style application grouping in Windows 7? eg. I want to have an Outlook button on the taskbar that I can click and have a vertical list (sans useless little preview window) as in Windows XP rather than a horizontal list.

A vertical list of...?

In Windows XP, there's a setting for application grouping when you have too many windows open. If one of the apps is Outlook and you have 5 emails open, when you click on Outlook in the task bar, you will see a vertical list of your email windows.

In Windows 7 (and Vista I presume), application grouping is different in that you see a horizontal list with a preview window.

I want this below on Windows 7:
Bb457050.usbl0102_big(en-us,TechNet.10).gif

Doesn't it already do that, except just horitzonally above the task bar? When you hover over a program that has more than 1 window open (and supports Aero), will show all the windows open with/without the preview depending on your settings.

Is there a reason why you want it specifically vertical, or just familiarity?

Most likely a field differs from the others, something like Album Artist.

Select all the ones that are from the same album, then Click 'Get Info'

Then keep the stuff that is already there. If a field is filled in, it means its common to all the tracks you selected.

If there is something blank that you want, like Year or something, fill that in. Then just click the Tick box for all the useless stuff, like Genre, grouping, etc (all the stuff that you haven't filled in).

It should then group them together.

I had a similar problem with an album once. Delete it from the Library, and then import it again.

If its still separated, do the Info thing again.

If it doesn't work then, then try a program like 'mp3tag'. I use it to do large edits of music.

My daughter has started playing an online game called Minecraft.

Problem is, after she's finished playing Firefox crashes and won't restart. I downloaded the latest version just then but no good. I kill the program using task manager, but it leaves a ghost browser imprint on Windows and won't restart.

regarding Minecraft

you can download minecraft stand alone so it runs as a program. like minesweeper or any other game. you will need to get JAVA to do this

this will stop all the crashes.

if you need some more help shoot us a PM on the forrums

I have a couple of issues/questions relating to video editing and specifically the PowerDirector series from Cyberlink.

My new desktop came preloaded with Powerdirector 8. I've been using this to collate my numerous photos/videos from my recent US trip in the hope of turning them into a nice/professional looking DVD. I've had a couple of small practice runs that seem to work really well except for one small problem - the Root Menu that I've designed that should be the first thing to appear upon loading the DVD, instead doesn't appear until all chapters I've created finish playing?

So question 1 is, does anyone know why this is happening or is there anyone who has experienced the same thing? If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!!??

Question 2 is - what are peoples opionions on the best video edition program available? I really like what I am using and am likely to upgrade to the latest version which is PowerDirector 9 so I can go with more HD stuff but before I do I'd love to know if there's a better option out there. Most websites I read seem to rate PowerDirector 9 as the best one to use.

Thoughts anyone? And thanks in advance.

Sorry Buddy, can't help you there, hoepfully someone will.

My problem is my laptop mouse system, I've got a pad with two click buttons below, so it seems my left click has died, I've been able to make the right click become the left click. But now I've got no right click.

My question is more so, I think i should just get a USB mouse or Wireless for that matter, and what's the best one as I like to lay in bed with my laptop.
So which mouse would work well on doona covers etc???

I just downloaded a 1.25 gig copy of photoshop and on the torrent website several people offered instructions on how to install it. Unfortunately i baring understand the instructions. I have windows 7 and this person was explaining how to install it onto windows 7

1: Extract files from Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Edition.exe

2: Uninstall all previous cs3/4 photoshop programs and apps.

3: Turn off internet

4: Replace your hosts file with the one in this folder hosts file is at;
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

5: Restart and make sure hosts entries are saved (open it with notepad and look).

6: Run Set-up file in Software folder to Install photoshop CS5 using this serial; 1330-1279-9841-9315-6622-5247

7: Copy the .dll file from this folder and replace the amtlib.dll files in c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Bride CS5 c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Device Central CS5 c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Photshop CS5

You're done! Enjoy!

Could someone please re-explain these instructions like they were talking to a simpleton as i got thoroughly confused reading those instructions.

Thanks.

1: Extract files from Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Edition.exe

Double click on the file, and just let it run.

2: Uninstall all previous cs3/4 photoshop programs and apps.

If you have an older version installed, uninstall it first. Do this via Control Panel, Add/Remove programs.

3: Turn off internet

Disconnect your internet connection. If wireless, just turn it off, or unplug if wired.

4: Replace your hosts file with the one in this folder hosts file is at;
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

There should be a file in the folder you downloaded labeled "HOST" or similar. Copy that to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder. However, before you do this, I recommend you make a copy of the one located in the C:\.... folder first.

5: Restart and make sure hosts entries are saved (open it with notepad and look).

Restart your computer, go back to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder and check that the file you just copied over is the same.

6: Run Set-up file in Software folder to Install photoshop CS5 using this serial; 1330-1279-9841-9315-6622-5247

The first file you opened would have created some folders and other files. Find the setup.exe or something similar and run that. When it asks you for a serial, enter this one.

7: Copy the .dll file from this folder and replace the amtlib.dll files in c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Bride CS5 c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Device Central CS5 c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Photshop CS5

Copy the file with the extention dll from the download folder, and paste them into the three locations replacing the existing file
  • c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Bride CS5
  • c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Device Central CS5
  • c:program Files/adobe/Adobe Photshop CS5

Hope it helped a little.

Hi,
I would like to ask for permission to post an invitation to my online study here. I have tried conatcting the site via the 'Conatct us' link a couple of times but no one is getting back to me. I can't PM mods either. Could a mod please email me at abali@deakin.edu.au so that I can discuss this with them?
Cheers,
Andrea

I posted this the other day as a thread.

So i have an Eee PC and it randomly shut down on me last night, and now whenever i log in it takes me for every and when it finally does it loads a temporary profile rather then my usual one. And says that to get my normal one back to log off, turn computer off and reboot it, however i do that and the same thing happens.

Any ideas how i can get my normal profile back?

Any help greatly appreciated :)
