Haha, don't think I was trying to sway you or anything. Cable is great for stable speeds. If iiNet provided their quotas with Cable, I would be all over that.I guess there are pros and cons with them all. Optus Cable and premium cable will give me better speeds and longer off-peak times. And I don't have or want a phone.

I checked http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/ and it says I'm 912m away from my nearest exchange and would get an estimated speed of 17666 kbps.

Just a question with speedtest.net and the pingtest.net
Here are my results for speedtest
and for pingtest
Do you guys get poor packet loss or is it just me? I have checked this multiple times for a couple of months now and I always seem to have an 88% packet loss. Are there any reasons as to why this is and how I could fix it? Also, with a packet loss like that, what is it likely to effect with my internet anyways?
Interesting, I tried that with pingtest.net, google, heraldsun, nba, espn and had a 0% packet loss. I tried it with the AFL site and got a 100% packet loss.Have you tried pinging another server to see if you get the same kind of packet loss?
run>cmd>ping 'website'
It could be a problem with the server, your setup (cables, router etc.) or network congestion.

I know I can still get download speeds of around 400-600kb which seems alright.Change your filters on your line. Reset your router etc. The other factor could be a fault NIC in your PC, fault in the router or your copper out to the street is poor.
That much packet loss will slow your experience down a fair bit I would think.
Even when i'm capped (256kb I get the same packet loss) I get that 88% packet loss. I find it weird that it is always at 88% as I would have assumed it would spike a bit and be better/worse at times not just a constant 88%.Just for a laugh, here are my results on Optus Cable (speed throttled until Monday). 0% packet loss even on my shitty connection so 88% would be a concern. On Monday I'll be back to normal cable and by the end of the week, premium cable. Will post results for those too.
What antivirus program do you use?Even when i'm capped (256kb I get the same packet loss) I get that 88% packet loss. I find it weird that it is always at 88% as I would have assumed it would spike a bit and be better/worse at times not just a constant 88%.
