I'm sure the parents would understand the reasons for me wanting to move house because the internet is not as fast as others! :D:p

Problem. Using Adblock Plus in Firefox, it's blocking all ads, good, but also all videos and down the bottom in the Have Your Say section, I can't see the button for Read all xxx comments.

eg. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...candal-says-girl/story-e6frf9jf-1225974667306

Page works fine in Chrome.

Want to just have the ads blocked, leave the other stuff as is.

EDIT: fixed it. Had to disable blocking of /adkit/js/* in the EasyList subscription.

Problem. How would you print this Telstra page as is?

http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/prepaid/prepaid-offers/

You go to print, you just get text. Tried selecting the text then print selection, same thing. Anything I can do other than print screen and copy to Word?

I'd just print screen it twice/three times and patch it together. Maybe use paint? Might be easier to patch the print screens together.

EDIT - http://i54.tinypic.com/35irgaf.png

Did it for you (as you can see i'm bored)

Cheers for that. I ended up taking a screen shot and cropping out the bits I didn't want, then copying to Word.

Another problem. Anyone's Youtube performance not as good as you'd like? Mine is not very good on my Mac, really really annoying. I have a 6 month old computer, super fast internet, 4GB RAM, but even if a youtube video is fully cached, it will pause quite a few times.

I ran this test: http://www.youtube.com/my_speed#

And after 5 minutes, I have 458 dropped frames. If you also get sub-standard youtube performance, or even if it's good, how many dropped frames do you get?

This is for anyone with a Samsung TV that has a USB port.

It will read a USB drive formatted with FAT32, won't read one with exFAT.

Can someone check if it will read an NTFS drive?

And would there be a way to enable exFAT compatibility?

Sorry R & B, would love to help but as you may have been able to tell by some of my recent questions, i have NFI of anything remotely computer-related.

My question...I wanna connect my laptop via wifi to the PC where I live which has x 100 the monthly data allowance...do i need a wireless modem or a wireless router? I rang Optus to enquire about a router, as that was what a mate said I needed, but the tech support guy said they could sell me a wireless modem at 1/2 the price. His English was pretty poor so I wasn't able to deduce what the difference between the two devices are, and which one is better. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers.

The wireless router would do the trick. Basically, a router gives you extra ports to plug your computer/others into the internet at the same time. You plug your modem network cable into the router which then gives you 4 extra slots (in most cases) to plug in multiple computer to the internet. The router also offers wireless connection which is what you want for your laptop.

I have no problems formatting to FAT32, NTFS, exFAT, etc, I just wasn't sure if the TVs only supported FAT32, which kinda sucks balls. Macs can do FAT32 and just recently, added support for exFAT as well.

Guess I'll have to keep my files under 4GB.

i find it hard to load bigfooty - i usually have to hit refesh 3 or 4 times in chrome for it to load - most of the time it get the error message. sometimes i cant get on here for 24 hours or more.

in firefox i can get on but when i type a reply to a thread and submit i gt a blank screen with done in the bottom corner.

i have to email myself what ive written, c and p and post on the iphone

Q. How easy using a Mac is it to rip TV episodes from a DVD into individual files? The same for any extras as well.

Should I be using some built-in program or Roxio Toast or Quicktime Pro

Hi all,

I've had a Toshiba Satellite A200 for around 3 and a half years, yesterday as I turned it on it took a good 30 minutes before the windows logo to turn on, I tried using a windows repair disc but it mentions that there is a faulty hardware that isn’t allowing me to repair the computer.

F8 doesn’t work nor does system restore. The computer does work after the initial 30 min start up but occasionally blue screens and before you have time to see the message the computer switches off and restarts.

i tried booting from the cd, it wouldn't allow me to as it would say i had faulty hardware that wouldnt allow me to run off the windows 7 disc. i tried repairing it but same message, when i finally managed to get log in, i tried accessing the disc and it gave me a message telling me i needed to restart the installation without it even restarting. it doesnt even allow me to access safe mode when i press f8 when the computer's starting up.

Just wanted to know what possibly could be the issues, I do have a bit of an understanding with comps, I’m not sure whether it’s the graphic card, hard drive or ram. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help. Thanks.

With that description I'd say it's the RAM...possibly a card has failed.

Was just hoping for some advice from someone.

Just got a call from Optus saying that they will bump up my internet data allwoance and give me a new 'dongle' for my laptop (plus a 12-month mag subscription) if I extend my contract for another 12 months. Problem is, the shit coverage i get from them has been pissing me off majorly...half the time I can't even get a connection, the other half my computer slows down to a crawl (is super fast when using wifi). I live in a metro area (Vermont) so I dunno what the issue is. My question is (and pardon the n00bish nature of it), with this new 'dongle', can I explain my coverage issues and insist on a better quality one? Will that make a difference (& is there even such a thing as a better quality one), or would it just be a network/area problem? Cheers in advance.

easiest way to figure out whether it will be better is to find someone with the same dongle and test it in your area. if you dont know anyone with the dongle, get someone with an internet capable phone and pop in an optus sim to see if the speeds are any better

I have an HD LCD TV that has a built-in HD receiver. It's about 2 years old. Has a 5 year replacement warranty. Hisense brand.

Initially, when I got it, the reception I was getting for HD signals was bad, breaking up. Tho the analog reception was fine. I called an antennae guy, who sold me a new antennae, reworked the cable that runs down into the wall only a little tho. For about 2 years it's working great. Some nights, tho, when it's raining/windy, the HD signal would break up again.

Anyway, just the last week, even sunny days, I haven't been able to get an HD signal at all, or the worst it's ever been when breaking up. Again, the analog reception perfectly fine.

I was thinking the built-in HD receiver could be on the fritz. But just tonight, and ironically during a big storm, wind, rain, it started working again. Clear picture, sound. All channels. The breaking up is still there but very miniscule, distorted line of pixels and sound every few seconds, but all up working. When I try to view channel info, none of them display information which is weird.

Then, from day to day, i'm getting no reception at all, then some days, i'll get reception again. In a week, i might get 1 out of 7 days where i get a picture.

So, my question is.....How do you tell the difference between a fault with the antennae itself, a fault with the cable that runs down from the antennae into your wall, and a fault with the inbuilt HD box? What symptoms does a malfunctioning inbuilt HD box show as opposed to an antenna/cable issue? How do you diagnose them before calling an antennae guy, who might just try to sell me a new antennae.

Re: Hardware issue ?

When I use my iPod touch on iTunes, it is new to the computer and says I have to erase and sync before I can use my iPod with the new computer. If I erase and sync will I lose all my apps when I do this?

Re: Hardware issue ?

iPhone: An hour before daylight savings ended I manually wound the clock back an hour to make sure my alarm would work - it did - and the time itself has stayed fine, but now all msgs I've sent since Sunday that haven't yet received a reply are staying at the top of my message inbox - how do I fix this? Also, on Twitter, everything is saying it was posted '1 day ago' no matter when it was sent.

Small issues, but how do I fix them? Thanks.

I went from PC to Mac with my iPhone. I think the steps I did were:
- on PC, sync then backup iPhone in iTunes
- deregistered device from PC, registered device on Mac
- copied iTunes folder from PC to Mac
- did a sync on Mac

So I imagine you'll do something similar, except probably from old PC to new PC (rather than new Mac).

Anyone watch video content on UK/US sites, that is, content that is restricted to people in those countries? What's the easiest way to set this up? I remember I used some public VPN and watched some stuff on mtv.com, but it was really fiddly and not a really satisfactory solution.
