I've got a sort of convoluted problem that I have nfi how to fix.
My windows media player no longer plays any sound or movie files and it is the most up-to-date version. Yet when I play movies in VLC player there is a picture but no sound is coming through my speakers or headphones. I've checked all of my sound devices and they are fine as I'm able to play music through itunes with both speakers and headphones working.

So any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Sounds like its missing the right codecs. Google Klite codecs install them and see if it fixes it.

How can I hook up my PS2 to my BenQ Full HD Monitor. I've only got a HDMI and DVI port free in the monitor as the VGA is hooked up to the computer already.

easiest way to figure out whether it will be better is to find someone with the same dongle and test it in your area. if you dont know anyone with the dongle, get someone with an internet capable phone and pop in an optus sim to see if the speeds are any better

Cheers mate. I ended up signing on for another 12 months, got the new improved modem...and it still sucks:) Now they're sending me an antenna, so will see ow that goes.

I've been trying in vain for the past few months, to get a set-up going where I can watch, through my TV, the movies/shows I've downloaded. I bought a WD 'My Essentials' external hard drive (2 TB), and a media player, reformatted the HD to be compatible with my mac (laptop), but am still having issues. The TV seems to be picking up the media player (using an HDMI cable), but the HD and its contents are not registering. I also tried it through the USB port on the TV but no good there either. I tried a mate's HD today and it picked it up no worries, so is mine stuffed because I have reformatted it to mac? It obviously works fine on my laptop, but just won't seem to register on the TV via media player.

Do I need to just give up, buy a new HD, and use it only on my desktop PC to download and transfer movies? Or might there be something else that's causing my current mac-formatted HD to not agree with the media player?

Cheers in advance.

There was a program I used to use that would search the correct URL of everything that was being loaded by your browser. So when it loaded a "hidden" video it would show the URL.

I can't remember it's name for the life of me but it was written in a thread here for the AFL about 5-6 years ago. Good luck searching.

Otherwise google something along the lines of - url grabber - perhaps try wireshark aswell although I don't think it shows urls.

How would I download video content from the 7 News site?

eg. http://au.news.yahoo.com/video/national/watch/25034858/

I've tried the Firefox add-ons DownloadThemAll and Download Helper, but no luck. I can download the advertisement that screens before the video story, but that's it.

Ant Video Downloaded every site with a video i been on you can download from its amazing. Some times you gotta start the video to download.

What do you mean? If you have copied it to somewhere or if someone has copied off it?

If someone has copied off it. I lent my hard drive to someone at uni- is not the end of the world if they have copied it, nothing overly personal on there, just mainly assignments, movies etc...just wondering if there's any way to tell if they've copied its contents? Cheers.

Not that I know of but if you right click the file it gives you basic information of "created", ""modified", "accessed" so you could possibly see what he accessed by right clicking and going "properties" assuming you haven't viewed it since you got it back sort of thing..

Should be plenty of no CD patches around for AoE.

This isn't really a problem as such, moreso something I was wondering about (and didn't think was thread-worthy):

I see people in lectures at uni on their laptops looking at stuff on the net, eg. Facebook, without any visible connection. I understand that Wi-Fi exists (apparently I have it on the laptop I'm using now), but how do you connect?

If you dive into your network connections or network settings or whatever your OS might call it, you should find an option to let it display for you all the wi-fi signals that your laptop is detecting in the area. Click or select or whatever the one you want to connect to, and it'll either put you on that network straight away (if it's unsecured) or ask for a login/password.

Ok, I'll try it next time I'm at uni or in the city. I'm assuming most of the ones people are using in public are unsecured (not requiring a password)?

Is there a way to have Windows XP style application grouping in Windows 7? eg. I want to have an Outlook button on the taskbar that I can click and have a vertical list (sans useless little preview window) as in Windows XP rather than a horizontal list.
