I had a threat which AVG picked up today, which I got rid off. But after that my internet stuffed up. Said I had a problem with my proxy settings. I went in there and it was on Use system proxy settings. So I put it on auto-detect and it works now.

But the downside to this is I now can't get into the iTunes music store. Anyone know why? This is the message:

All four settings don't seem to fix my iTunes.

Any help appreciated.:)

EDIT: Don't worry, fixed. Had to fix the connection on the Internet Explorer browser as well, even though I never use it.

i posted this the other day as a thread.

So i have an eee pc and it randomly shut down on me last night, and now whenever i log in it takes me for every and when it finally does it loads a temporary profile rather then my usual one. And says that to get my normal one back to log off, turn computer off and reboot it, however i do that and the same thing happens.

Any ideas how i can get my normal profile back?

Any help greatly appreciated :)

bump!!

Alright, everyone's had this problem. I haven't had this problem until now. I tried searching and couldn't find much that actually helped.

Old computers have carked it (including the laptop I originally used to put music on my phone). Now have a new laptop but of course iTunes has decided to be a shitstick and not let me edit music or put it on. What is the easiest way without jailbreaking to be able to do it?

Thanks.

Anyone have solution to double NAT? Running bigpond ultimate > cisco 3925 in bridge mode (wifi disabled) > netgear Wndr 3700. Can't work out a decent longterm solution. Double NAT blocks everything.

Got a dodgy short term running. Bridge mode on cisco, htcp switched off on netgear. Connect the two via LAN ports instead of yellow incoming port.

Help.

Not a problem, but something I only just found out in Gmail Tips. I'd be surprised if this was common knowledge, although it's always possible that I'm the last to know. If you have a Gmail account and created it as First.Last@gmail.com, then FirstLast@gmail.com is also reserved for you, and vice versa, they are interchangeable. You can also use either as your username.

So if you created your gmail with a period between your first and last names, or if you didn't and wish you did, don't worry (be happy), you can use whichever you prefer. I created mine as FirstLast@gmail.com and people always ask "FirstLast is all one word?", and I'd say yes, now it will just be easier to tell people it's First.Last@gmail.com.

The missus has an Asus R101d laptop and reports slow speeds, especially when she has a few programs going. I thought a ram upgrade could help, is it worthwhile upgrading to 2Gb? Also what sort of RAM will I be needing? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am assuming this is an EeePC yes?

These laptops are never going to be the fastest in the world and the 1.66GHz processor isn't helping.

If it is only running sluggish when running multi programs then some additional ram should help...

The max capacity of ram on the R101d is 2GB so you will need to buy a 1GB stick of DDR3.

Something like this...

I don't think it has room for 2 slots of memory, shouldn't I just grab a 2Gb one and toss the other? Also, the more Mhz on the Ram the better, yes?

My apologies you are correct you will need a single stick of DDR3.

In terms of the Mhz you are correct the more the better however it will not make a noticeable difference.

Good Luck!!

Hi guys. Ive got an issue with my computer booting up.

First time you turn it on it never boots up. Always stays on the Acer Splash Screen or else progresses past this and you get a black screen with a little cursor in the top left corner.

However, turning it off and on a couple of times after this and I eventually get into Windows.

This issue has arisen ever since we installed a new Hard Drive and a new DVD Drive. Yes we've checked to see they are all installed correctly and they are.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :)

Nevermind. Fixed this issue.

For anybody who ever has the same problem, I simply went into the BIOS and restored everything to its default (I made sure to note down what everything was beforehand though, just in case)

Working fine now. :) :thumbsu:

Just got a PS3 and areas of the screen keep flickering, especially the thin lines on the top and bottom of the menu screens. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

Ive never even seen a PS3 so I cant tell you for sure, but I had a similar issue with my old PS2.

The problem had to do with the component cables that were attached. I dont know if PS3 has these, but I got a fresh set for my PS2 and the problem was solved straight away.

If the component cables are crappy, they affect the picture as well as the sound. :thumbsu:

New Antenna is probably the cheapest way.

Get a better router or get a second router and run in repeater mode is probably more expensive, but could provide better results.

Have you checked if there is any interference near your router? Wireless phones are the main culprit.

Thanks, also on youtube the video no longer shows up. Only the sound with a button saying Normal, this can be changed to .5x speed, 2x speed etc. btw using Safari 5.1.1 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2

Hey guys, have a CPU performance issue here.

CPU on my laptop (Dell Vostro 1500 - just under four years old) spikes between 20% - 60% when the system is idle, and when I load a program (even a basic one such as Firefox) the CPU will spike to 100% and then once the program has loaded vary between 60-100% usage (and hence tends to lag like crazy).

If I try and load an EA Game (such as ME3) or another quality one (Skyrim - which I haven't been able to play yet due to this problem!! :( ) the computer is barely responsive, it takes up to five minutes just to get through the game startup.

I've done most of the basics ie. virus scans, defrag (4th time right now), cleanups (have about 35% of the hard drive available), looking for suspicious programs in the performance tab of TskMan (and it has helped slightly, a couple of days ago I was stuck on a permanent 100% usage).

I'm going to start up safe mode after I finish this last defrag and see if that can shed any light as well.

Any other suggestions?
