Can anyone tell me why ISP upload speeds are so shit? No matter how good your download speed is, and I've had up to 125 Mbps, uploads are what I would expect from a 3rd world country.

So why is it?

I'm alright with computers, but a bit of a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff.... how would I go about formatting it?

Don't format it unless you are happy to lose all your data (music, pics, vids etc), installed programs and want to start from scratch with nothing, reinstall Windows from disc and see an empty HDD.

My computer.
Right click drive icon
Select "Format"
Follow prompts.

Only if you want to lose the lot though.

That's the nature of ADSL - fast download, slow upload, but 125Mbps? What connection you getting that on?? Doesn't sounds like ADSL.

Good thing I didn't format it!

All good now, a bit of perseverance with cleanups, anti-virus', etc paid off.

I have Optus Premium Cable, some months I pay the extra for the Premium, some months I don't. Usually get 18-20 Mbps, but on Premium can get anywhere from 70 Mbps to 125 Mbps. Upload crap though.

Below is work and work (with Melb Uni proxy). So how come upload speeds at home aren't as good?

Businesses pay a lot more for more symmetric connections as they transfer a lot of data. Not many home consumers are willing to pay the extra so they can maintain ratios.

Most consumers care a lot more about downloads than uploads so it is prioritised.

Quick question.
Whenever I add new movies to my itunes to sync with my ipod, it syncs not only the new content but also the content I already have on my ipod. How do I stop it from doing that?

Cheers

Does anyone know how to put this type of video (grey racing) into some sort of Movie Maker type thing/archive? Only reason I ask this is because I have been saving numerous races into my favourites, then have gone back to watch them later on down the track to realise they are not available to view. Can't find any way to download them on the comp.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You can download an add on (I use it for firefox, not sure if it works for chrome) called Ants toolbar which allows you to download files like that which you can put onto your desktop or whatever.

Anyone know a good program for converting files that play on media player into DIVX?
My TV only playes DIVX off my hard drive...
^
Try a program called "ImTOO MPEG Encoder"

Completely different question, something a mate of mine has been trying to do for ages..

Is there any way of getting songs off an ipod and putting the file on a hard drive. I don't think there is but worth trying I guess...
All the songs are invisible files but the issue is, they are all in very odd folders and some with their names all messed up. There might be a program to fix this (not too sure on that) but if you want to try and find them:
start > control panel > apperance and personalization> folder options > view > in advanced settings select "show hidden files, folders, or drives" and apply.

Then you go onto your ipod and search through the invisible folders (I would give a step buy step but my ipod is in my car...).

Cheers mate.
I'll pass this on and hopefully it works.

Thanks for your help. :thumbsu:

Just reading up about the 'Ants toolbar', many seem to have difficulty clearing it off their PC after use; and thus label it a 'virus'. Not sure I want to go down that path, my comp is running fine at the minute and want to keep it that way. :p

Are there any programs that I can purchase that could do the same / if not better job?
