The British and Irish Lions are in town tomorrow night, taking on a combined Australia/New Zealand side.

With the aid of some ticket prices being dropped to $29 this week, looks like a crowd of 40,000 is expected tomorrow night (probably be a bigger crowd than the Port game on Sunday).

Plenty of supporters walking through the CBD this week, I did think of buying a ticket late but Union doesn't quite hold the same appeal for me as it used to.

Should be a good night for it.

Are there ANY Australians in the combined Australia/New Zealand side? Maybe 1-2 token selections?

More than half

Pay attention
I have no intention whatsoever of "paying attention" to Rugby Union.

Someone's having a laugh if more than half a combined Aus/NZ side is Australian. Man-for-man, there would be barely any Wallabies players who would be selected ahead of their All Black equivalent.

So if youre not paying attention, then **** off

Little AC trying to make it thru to Friday from initial field of 144

First cut after second round on Wednesday, top 60 and ties

Decent start for Alex. Cut line for tomorrow currently sitting at +1

Probably needs a 72 to ensure safety. 70 would help for Thursday's final cut.

Guess I can get a second job as cut line prognosticator. Weather moved in and suspended play. However, looks like cut line will indeed be +2. Most of the field is done.

Alex started on back 9 for his second round. Tough stretch 16-18 unfortunately is his undoing. Just couldn't get putts to drop on front 9 (his back 9 today).

This was/is a big boy tournament. Ohio State, Kent State and a host of colleges with kids from Ohio are playing in it. Got a taste of what awaits him after his upcoming senior year of high school.

I honestly don't watch one single second of it--so I don't have any opinion whatsoever.

My guess is that their audience is girls, not middle-aged white guys like me. To that end, if it inspires girls to try to play hoops or sports in general, then it serves its purpose.

As for making money--I guess I look at it this way, if ALL it did was bleed money every year--league would be long gone. So either they are making money or getting handsome write-offs that make it "profitable" to own a club.

I do know, for example, that baseball owners in "small-market" cities like to claim poverty on a regular basis.

I am personally aware, through past work I have been involved with, that claim is FULL of bullshit. Owners cook the books to meet whatever agenda they want you to buy. 😉

Truly there is no more consistently embarrassing sports organization anywhere in the world.

When I was a kid, Hulkamania was peaking.

He was everywhere, on everything.

Sadly he diminished his own legacy a bit IMO, he was a campaigner to work with and a very weird unit away from the ring.

Still, the industry wouldnt be where it is today without Terry
