A lot of posters ( including myself) have said that they believe we take gardiner in the draft to bolster our key defender stocks. It's unlikely he will get to us at 14 but I've been thinking, ( as unlikely as it is , but let's pretend) we got the number 2 pick as some of the more outlandish trade speculation has suggested, would we still use pick 2 to get gardiner or take the best player availible even though we will be left short in the key defender department??

Gardiner could easily get to us at 14 and probably wouldn't be worth the number 2 pick.

I was actually surprised we didnt draft him last year (or anyone for that matter)....I thought he was a logical replacement for spangher and cheaper.

He pulled out of the draft last year after nominating.

Something to do with finishing either his Uni course or Apprenticeship.

Newly appointed West Adelaide coach Mark Mickan, who was there in the capacity of Geelong SA recruiter, jokingly said his hopes of having Tippett at the Bloods next year was diminishing by every test.

lol?

Our best 'recruit' next year with the arrival of Buddy will be Sam Reid.
If he can stay injury free, then he will relish being the third/fourth forward. Even though he is quite tall, he plays small as well in that he was one of our critical defensive forwards in our premiership year. He has pace & has a huge tank so his two way run was missed last year.

Reid will be extremely difficult to play against next year & he will also be used in defence at times next year.
He will be an upgraded model to LRT.

Does anyone else have this feeling that we are up to our necks in the trade for Heath Shaw?

Things are too quiet on this front & I can see him coming to us for less money purely because of his brother & the chance to win a flag or two.
The popular thought is that his trade is holding up everything else.
they want Jesse White. Armstrong has been mentioned. I won't be surprised to see him at our club with a Buddy like shock announcement.

Yeh mate. I have been thinking this myself for a bit now.

Whether it is us getting Shaw or us being part of three legged deal it seems weird that a fairly straight forward trade that moves on a mid tier player for a pick is taking so long where everyone seems happy to just get it done. It is not as if we are desperate to keep White or the Pies not keen to take him and the value is pretty well known as well.

Thought it was interesting that he was quoted last week as saying he would take less money to go to a club that was a contender. Couldn't think of any other club that was aimed at ...
Where was this said mate u would think that if he wanted to come to us he would of come out by now. Pretty sure he has not nominated a club yet still on holiday

well white mumford and possibly Armstrong

I expect to see someone come in, hopefully a ruck

I am not that interested in heath shaw personally, not against it, just don't care that much

what do you think we will do?
Think Armstrong will be gone regardless if we can trade him and White and Mumford are no doubt gone. Interesting that they haven't signed Lamb or Everitt yet from what we no.
Gone
Mummy
White
Brown
Jude
Morton
Mattner

?
Everitt
Armstrong
Lamb
That could be 9 players out
IN: Franklin
I do agree with u surely we are looking to bring in 1 or 2 players defentley need a ruck and a replacement for Shaw if Everitt goes and Shaw doesn't get up.
