Nope, I had a text on the train that asked if I knew anything about McGlynn and than found it on a couple of sites. I’m not calling it just intrigued to see his name around out of the blue.
Rumor doing the rounds on Melbourne radio is that the swans are trying to find a new home for Ben Mcglynn, It is to be believed Mcglynn has in the last 48 hrs asked the swans to look at a trade.

I get the feeling the swans are really looking To load up on young talent to go with the stars we already have. This could be a defining trade period which is talked about for years to come, for better or worse I'm not sure.
If the rumors are to be believed yer we are wanting to load up on picks which is a reverse from past years :D

Agree, I think they are preparing for life after a few players and are willing to part with mid aged players who may not of developed well enough, eg White, Everitt maybe Mcglynn, and get guys you can build around as the stars leave.

Clearly if all goes to plan and Buddy can play at age 36 after a few flags then they will write books devoted to the swans work this trade period

Yep for sure. I guess the element of risk in this instance is if we pick up dud youngsters in the draft, the effect of this will be magnified Because we are looking at using far more draft picks than usual.

That Nick Smith rumour seems to be based purely on some dude at afl.com deciding to stick his name in that article because he was born in Victoria. No way in hell is, in my opinion, our next co-captain being traded. Ridiculous.
Smith has already told Roos to nick off once already.

Cunningham & B Jack are automatic replacements for the role McGlynn plays at a 200-250K reduction in our salary cap.
They are also NSW boys that won't drain too much of our cap in the future.
You can throw in Jed Lamb into the mix
I love Benny but I can see why he may be traded. Benny to Melbourne would get him a decent salary too.

Could end up with another Dan Hannebury or Luke Parker tho
If we could get pick 2, surely even we couldn't stuff that up right?

I mean, i think we are under a gypsy curse to stuff up our first round pick... but if we get two first rounders, can we nominate the later one to be the stuff up, and get a good player with the early one?

Pick 2 looks like its going to be James Aish, I watch James regularly and I'm not quite sold on him.
Last time we had picks like this it was Rohan @ 6 and Jetta @ 14

Yes this ^ If we play our cards right and pick up a really good crop of youngsters that can set you up for premiership glory in years to come, ala 2009 for us and Geelong in I think 1999 draft? I do acknowledge 2009 for us was manly drafting other guys in but there was also Jetta, Rohan, Reid as rookies.
