Do you think those 2 would have made much of a difference?
To the NL loss? I’m not sure I didn’t see it.
I just know they were down 2 at half time and Garland had to play hurt in second half.
So those new injuries plus Swinton, Anderton, Holmes, Harper, Callinan, Hanslow, Whitelaw already missing makes for my point that they have too many injuries to seriously be challenging atm.

Talk is that state league has been all but scrapped by the AFL Tas. ?
yer it’s gone.
I stated this months ago that it was. I was hosed down at the time but oh well.
Will be regional leagues and let’s hope they get it right.
In the south two divisions of 7 teams. Promotion/relegation, points system.

Old scholars can do whateva they want separate to that.

Clarence have just announced it and seem supportive.
I had seen this, this morning

Message from President Clarence Football Club:

Yesterday AFL Tasmania advised our club of the restructuring of football given the recent announcement of our own AFL teams and the introduction of VFL teams in 2025.

Underpinning the VFL teams will be regional and divisional local competitions.

This direction is supported by the Clarence Football Club and we will continue to work hard to connect and engage with our ROOLANDERS, and we will strive to be the best local community football club in Tasmania (on and off the playing field).

Our club will invest time and effort into developing quality coaching and playing environments from Auskick to senior football (male and female).
We support a renewed focus on local community football and we will fully support our AFL teams - but - local community footy must still be the foundation of our great game.

I'm keen to see how a restructured league will look like, I just hope that's better communication to local clubs when the VFL side is up and running then how they handled the whole Devils thing.

Makes no sense going on next year btw.

Why does the comp need to go another year? Restructure it now and get players back from the other state comps, you’ll also retain players to play in the team that will now be looking to go interstate for a year.

Why?

They seem to have learned nothing. The regional competition was to low a standard to support thr VFL Dervils last time. They need a decent TSL. Thats just a fact of history & common sense.

Common sense, thats never been an AFLTas strong point unfortunately!

It makes sense to me to continue having a TSL, but with a Southern Conference and a Northern Conference that only meet each other in the finals. Each conference could have two divisions with a promotion/relegation system.

So if there's no statewide competition, do we really need AFL Tas to run things?
They will be in charge of community football. Just like in Victoria where you have different arms of AFL running different areas

The AFL club when it is set up will be in charge or the VFL team. The AFL in charge of the Coates league team.

In charge of community football = do nothing.

They really don't offer anything tangible for competitions, that the comps can't do themselves

Essentially AFL Tasmania will take care of most of the footy in the state, and be the AFL's go to for matters regarding the running of the VFL program, and Coates league. The AFL team will by run by others put in charge of the AFL side.

VFL side would hopefully provide a feeder for the AFL side as well as perhaps a place for delisted players to just keep their footy going at the top level.

I'd be interested in seeing how football develops now that there's the AFL side in the future, and what AFL Tasmania does for local football, if honestly anything different.

It won't be Hobart centic. All three regions will suffer with the gap between VFL and regional footy. I don't trust AFL Tas to run anything right. They couldn't run a bath. Bring back our own governing body.

Honestly I can understand his concerns, I have my own concerns with the removal of the state league as well and what a structure would look like with these sides rejoining local leagues. I can't see why we can't have the state league and the VFL side to be perfectly honest. If they could have it work in harmony with local footy then I cannot see an issue. I'd think we'd develop talent better having a strong competition for these players and junior players playing in to come into the VFL program, and then the AFL team if they're good enough to be drafted.

I'd hate to see a lot of very one sided games as well with these clubs entering back into these leagues.

It won’t work because the sooky SFL clubs won’t agree to a divisional structure.
Brighton aside the rest are terrified of having to play any of the TSL clubs in what would be a Div 1.
Promotion/relegation will keep games closer ie: Huonville would not be flogging New Norfolk right now and Tigers wouldn’t be flogging Glenorchy.

No, Clarence would be flogging Huonville, etc.
