Pies have to leave the league. The people running it have a responsibility to keep the club going. It can’t in the TSL. Best chance it has is to drop to SFL and pull on heart strings of players to come back. Dropping to SFL may give impotence to others to keep playing there as they may win some games.
I’m not a Glenorchy fan. Never have been. Genuinely concerned about them as a club though and the whole of Northern Suburbs football. If you think im over the top then do this- go to a training session of theirs. They have 10-12 players in attendance.
Trouble is the whole northern suburbs is filled with old people, foreigners and druggies these days.
Hard to get much outta that. The good ones are all off playing local ammo footy at local clubs chasing big coin.
No coincidence soccer out there is doing great.
The old southern based TFL clubs aside from New Norfolk aren't doing very well anymore.
Clarence and Glenorchy don't sound like they're in good shape at all, North have been largely poor since they went back to back under Yeater in 91-92, Hobart have been a rabble for 30 years or more. The Bay, gone.

Unfortunately I believe you're correct. Them you add in Kingston and how good are they looking. Bloody shame for everyone else

Well we had about 15 years with AFL games in Launceston & SFA in Hobart. The effect was footy became just another TV game & slowly lost ground to other sports

Combine with school football effectively ending & schools finding soccer easier to play, plus AFLTas/AFL showing SFA interest is club football & having little interest in long term plans for the game, hence we are where we are.

What??

Just saw that Kieran Lovell is moving home.

Why do the Southern Clubs stay in this league? Can anyone give me a reason? Can’t be just the 68k in funding or whateva they get from AFLTAS. Its just killing the southern clubs. Literally killing them.

Belief in having a State league. Even the State Government want a State League.

If the TSL does collapse I hope the 5 southern clubs stick together.

They wouldn't want to join the SFL. look at the way they treated the Women's teams this season. Also look at last time the TSL finished in 2001. The SFL did what they could to destroy them & make everyone mediocre.

The 2 Northern clubs would have fun playing in the NTFA!!!!

Agreed. Saw it at the time. More interested in the Huon clubs than anyone else, certainly couldn't have given a monkies about the ex-Statewide League clubs, that's for sure.
An attitude that hasn't really changed in twenty years either.
Personally I'd like to see a return of a new seven club TANFL if the TSL collapses.

5 TSL clubs
+
9 SFL clubs
=
2 divisions of 7 teams with promotion and relegation.
Closer leagues due to relegation and promotion, same salary caps, player points system.
Get it done.

Won't get 2 SFL clubs to go Premier league again,

There is huge resentment from how everything went down 13 years ago. Football people have the longest memories.

I think we all resent how those controlling& how the game have been so inconsistent in how they see the structure of football over the last 30 years.

The clubs are caught in the cross fire.

The vindictive behaviour of the SFL to clubs over the charges forced on them was/is pathetic.

One notes the NWFL & NTFA showed a far more mature & sensible attitude to clubs coming into their competitions.

Why is the SFL so nasty & counter productive?

Not going to get into it again, because it wasn't productive last time. But the outright lies to the face from the now TSL clubs played a big part

The SFL should be bigger than that. They are the administration for the local game. Its health & growth.

Not the administration for petty behaviour.

It reflects on them, not the clubs needing a home after AFLTas led them on & then stabbed them in the back.

In what’s been a shocking pre season so
Far, Garland staying on at Clarence as Senior assistant is a major positive
How is Garland staying on at Clarence a positive? How disappointing has he been since coming out of the AFL system with supporting football in Tasmania.
He is more concerned about which changerooms he runs out of than giving back to the club who helped him get drafted.

What happened at North Hobart was bad on his part I will admit. But having a guy that’s played 140 odd AFL games and wants to teach and develop will only help the young Clarence players

Garland gives plenty to developing young players even if you dont hear about it. If you think how good the two Launy sides, Lauderdale and Kingborough will be next year having Garland as a target forward and bringing on their young guys is essential with all the players Clarence have lost.

Clarence finally come out and said it. The league is done. Taskforce has proper stunted the end of it. Taskforce a bunch of people who have no idea about the local game. This hopefully is the last year, and even more hopefully it doesn’t get up at all this year.
