Nope. West Coast are a prudent and conservative organisation. A disappointing season impacted by injuries to our two most important players.

If you think Simpson will be sacked off the back of that, you don't have any idea.

Kennedy is only a couple of goals off the Coleman. Do you think the absence of one ruckman should spiral a so called premiership contending list to 9th? Bet your blinkers off mate Simpson is driving us like an Italian tank commander.

Ugh **** the "player" bit off that contract. Actually get rid of the coach bit too, what is he going to teach anyone? Other than some leading patterns/blocking for JK, he is just pure skill.
Ooh boy, Chris got a bigger bite than Lecca will get all fishing season next year when he's retired from footy!

Regardless of injury, Simpson has presided over multiple losses where we were in a winning position at three quarter time or during the last quarter. That's got nothing to do with Natanui or Lycett, that's the coach.

You're massively downplaying the significance of Kennedy's absence. He missed 5 games and we went 2-3 during that time.

And that's not counting the Giants game where we were ahead when he went down and ended up losing.

True but its also a little bit like the midfield situation with Nic. If you treat kicking a winning score the same as winning the supply battle and just make it basically 1 star players job then if that player gets injured and you then can't win without him thats just poor planning. Our forward line has been 1 dimensional for 5 years. The entire competition knows if you stop Kennedy kicking goals the Eagles can't win. What did they expect to happen if he ever got injured?

So Simmo is asked if Partington is close to getting a game and responds by essentially saying "none of you have a clue, you haven't been watching him at East Perth, he's not going to be a lifesaver". I'm far from a Simmo hater but that kind of arrogance isn't exactly endearing him to me right now

That's not really what he said.

And what he said was basically true. Everyone calling for Partington's inclusion is doing so based on the fact he's getting high-20 possessions and kicking a goal a game. That's great but it's not the be all and end all. If he's not working defensively or he's butchering the ball then his stats alone won't justify his inclusion.

I've only watched a few Royals games this year but he's never stood out to me and made me think "wow, we need this kid in the seniors immediately".

I want him in the side but that's more because I think we're not getting enough kids through the system and he's the obvious answer to that.

Just started watching Simmo's presser. MASSIVE Freudian slip when Lachy Reid was asking him about David King's comments on LeCras.
Responded with something along the lines of "Well that's up to Pridda...sorry Lecca".

Something just below the surface I feel. Simmo almost seems to be biting his tongue.

All we ask is that each player be given the same opportunity.

Lecras goes at 35% DE, does F-all the whole game.
Priddis couldn't catch a sloth defensively.

But they get a pass mark?

Took 15 weeks for them to wise up to Masten being below the standard along with Wellingham.

Sure, Parto might need to work on his defensive efforts, in fact, I'm sure he's probably got to work on about EVERY aspect of his game, as he hasn't even played a game yet.

But there are clearly players getting a game who aren't up to standard, yet Parto is expected to do far more than these players are currently doing week on week.

Noticed the same thing. Also thought reading between the lines that this is almost certainly Lecca's last year.

Parto is pretty much the only fit kid showing any signs of not being in the gun for delisting. Of course we want to see what he has got at AFL level.
From Simmo:
"We can't dismiss our list and bottom out and play the kids and write off the season... it's still up for grabs."

Only room for so many Andrew Gaffs in the side after all.

Watched the full press conference, had to laugh when he was copping it from all sides on Le Cras being out of form and whether he should be out of the team and he goes "Pridda.. uh, Le Cras..." Quality Freudian slip that.

On Partington, this is a direct quote from today: "there's more to football than just getting the ball." He's right of course but coming off a loss where the biggest criticism of his side was the complete inability of anyone of note to win a contested possession in the 4th qtr its not the best defence. Almost comes across as trolling really.

As poor as Lecca has been this year, I hope you'll all send him off with the respect he deserves if he hangs up the boots. He's a great of our club.
Of course, that's a bit disrespectful to think people would act otherwise.

The issue isn't the players, they get picked of course they're going to play.
The issue is the coaches picking players who are out of form because of "runs on the board".

Disrespectful of me? After reading some of the comments on these fine pages over the 2017 season I think you've got it a bit twisted.

There are a few mids in the side that don't work defensively and butcher the ball right now.

He will fit right in surely?

the issue with simmo is not that he is not giving a chance to parto but rather criticising on parto telling him to improve on his game yet doesnt do the same to the senior players

maybe our depth is really that shit

The confusing part is people can't see how Parto getting 20+ touches and 2+ goals in each WAFL game won't lead to him performing at AFL at least to where LeCras is right now

Our depth is pretty poor.

Not helped by the MC refusing to give them a chance though.

We're probably 2nd last on the wish list of young players these days.

Similar to Karpany, it's all well and good to say (x young player needs to work on this), but how do t those deficiencies make them significantly worse than the ageing players currently in the 22?
