I get your point , so taking into consideration you have seen Partington Play and the defensive side to his game is lacking how would u compare his game to Hills and Mastens piss weak tackling turnovers and defensive games ?

Hill's defensive game is underrated. He actually works his arse off.

I haven't actually taken enough notice of Partington's defensive efforts to comment. It's just something that has been brought up previously as something he's been told to work on.

If there was integrity with selection then why have LeCras and Priddis been selected week in week out, despite their obvious lack of form and positive contribution to the team? And I'm gobsmacked that Simmo believes we have got a good balance in our side at the moment. Has he been watching the same West Coast Eagles football as the rest of us? I'm afraid I'm losing/have lost confidence in his ability to be our coach going forward.
When he is referring to balance there I'm pretty sure he means the age profile. Not necessarily about the way we've been playing... That's how I interpret it anyway.

It's dawned on me last night with no real ideA only a theory that in 2015 Simmo provided the Web game plan and Don Pyke provided the intent/motivation for the players ..
Why because 2016 even though we made finals there was obviously something missing ..
Before the finals and before Nic went down, thought the last 3 home & away games in 2016 the boys definitely turned up to play. We won the last 3 games that we were not expected to win. Know GWS and Adelaide were 2 of the sides - forget who the 3rd team was. However before that and throughout the whole season they were playing in cruise control. Did the team suffer from burnout and have never really recovered? 2015 was definitely our year and we blew it:(

Given his contract status it is unlikely Simmo will be shown the door any time soon. However, the rumblings next year will become a roar unless the club gets some direction on the field. We seem to be heading nowhere with a bad game plan/style and players that don't cut it (which isn't all on Simmo). Personally, I would like him to be given the chance to turn it around but I do want to see serious changes to personnel being played (or more specifically not played) and a game plan of contested, hard at the footy and man football. If the changes aren't made, then Simmo will lose me but he hasn't lost me yet (as frustrated as I am), as I am not sure it would be that much different with another unnamed coach with our admin and the players we have. I also think our recruiting and development departments need a serious overhaul.
Have heard rumblings that one or two in the recruiting department may not be there next year - not sure if true of course but I'm hoping it is!

I did like it when Simmo put Barra in his place though
He was absolutely cringeworthy with just about every question he asked. Glad Simmo shut him down on being so disrespectful of Brisbane.

If that's the level of journalistic ability in Perth no wonder the club thinks they can ride roughshod over The West, Seven, Nine et al

I haven't watched Partington at all (hence my question about him)so my point is if Masten and Hill (and I beg to differ on Hill yes you see him running around but I think his tackles are piss weak and you rarely see him put his body on the line )in past games and Jetta,Lecras and Cripps are running around like they did against Collingwood and Partington and Karpeny are puting some good games together
Surely theyed be worth a game against Brisbane with their pace and exuberance in lieu of a couple of the above guys plodding around with their half hearted tackles and efforts

He's obviously not 100%, so why push him?! Play him every other game maybe, his 4 goal game when he came back from a break was good, but he din't capable of sustaining that! Karpany, while not a star, deserves an extended audition.

With Priddis, give him a couple of weeks off, I think having Shuey, Sheed, Redden, Mitchell and Yeo moving through the guts would make us look a lot different.

I don't see why it's so hard to use "rest" or "general soreness" to make selection changes.
I'm guessing Priddis might have general soreness this week

Hill at least pushes back hard.

He's often seen in the backline taking a saving mark.
I see him working pretty hard off the ball when watching live.

Correct, you see more of what he does if you are at the game than on TV. He works a lot harder than people give him credit for, but he doesn't have runs on the board, that is why he is the scape goat compared to Lecras.

Can someone clarify for me that a 22 mins long press conference in the middle of the week during the season is standard practice? o_O

Normally he's doing a 7-8 mins token chat to the reporters after training or something like that, but this is a pre planned, structured presser he's doing right now.

My first impression seems to be like it has a bit of crisis control about it. Like the club is panicking a bit at the criticism it's copping from all angles and has sent Simmo out there to get 'deep' and really give some "honest" answers to appease the masses.

I might be reading too much into the whole duration thing, but it's actually the longest presser he's ever done (as far as i can find), the next longest being the 20min one where he was first appointed head coached and announced all his strategies etc etc back in 2013 :hourglass:

Fair enough, that's your opinion, but I've asked with basically no response, who replaces him???

And come up with something better than Sumich
Paul roos
Alistair Clarkson
Don Pyke

Explore the options. The eagles are a rich club and can afford to offer more cash.

What's your beef with sumich? From all reports he is quite a good coach and had served a very long apprenticeship.

Exactly. Sumich I think deserves some credit. He has done nothing wrong and I just can't understand why people all just write him off like they know him. Was a good assistant to whoosha who is a brilliant coach that won us a premiership.

There's a cap on football department spending. Can't just pay the head coach more without being under resourced in other areas of the club.

I wouldn't call any of them remotely realistic possibilities.

More realistic that we manage to get both Kelly and Dusty as recruits in the offseason.

Sumich has a good resume but interviewed for about 3-4 senior jobs and didn't win any (even Matthew Knights beat him to the Essendon job). In addition all I hear are complaints about the WCE boys club, which Sumich may not be 100% part of but certainly is not far enough removed for me to be comfortable.
