Working on a newspaper project at work and was dealing with the "Lightning Flash" - the newspaper for Lightning Ridge between 1969-98. (Started monthly, moved to fortnightly in 1971)

In the November 1969 issue the big story of the month was the fundraiser they were holding to help pay for the traveling expenses for the new Doctor, who was coming in daily from Walcha - they were setting up a roster of people to get him to and from the little airstrip (those interested contact Edna, the committee secretary) - he'd be arriving about 9 and leave about 10.30 to go back to his practice in Walcha.

The first time they'd had a daily doctor - there'd been other doctors, but this new one was coming in Monday to Friday so they really needed to look after him.

Dr Geoffrey Eddleston.
 
Mick is old the doc was there to make sure he made it through the game.

Agree. Trigg is a slime-ball and probably took a brown paper bag from GE for this.
No wonder the players played as they did. People say it doesn't matter but it does - the players are human. They know whats going on. This would make them feel really icky and dirty. Its just off.

We lost our CEO and we spent a few easy months paying all these money for a well known company to search out a suitable replacement?

Who do they find ?

Did I misspell his name did I? Sorry. I just thought it was interesting to find that he started out the back of nowhere as a traveling country GP - then he went up - then he went down.

For decisions relating to supporter - club relations we are far worse. Far too many closet Carlton supporters who are embarrassed to support Carlton due to it been a inept boards plaything.

We still haven't done a 145 or 187 although we haven't played the Hawks or Port yet.

At the completion of the process, we appointed... Nigel Smart.

I'll bet he had a racket going with the traveling Dr thing. Probably was able to fraudulently claim double from the Govt or something knowing it couldnt be checked. Im pretty sure the bloke invented medicare fraud before it was called medicare.

Yep. What did the 'recruitment company' do? Google 'AFL' and 'CEO'. Trigg was the first name to come up and hey presto they call him and he wants the job.
 
Has there been any comment or explanation from Carlton about this? It just seemed like such a bizarre thing to see, particularly on a day when there was due to be extra focus on Mick's coaches box, and he is one of the last people you would want to see in there.
