Selwood has had a terrible few weeks actually. But unlike shitbury he can actually mark kick and handball.
I think you should stop using "Shitbury".

You might not like him, he might not make it, he might not be any good, but he deserves some basic respect.

Give him a break. He might be a kid who has no idea.
Joined in 09 too so he must be at least 5.

He has now received a holiday for this. Generally id recommend that you dont quote and repeat the error.

Yep. How the hell anyone can know whether or not he has "it" after 7 games is beyond me. If there was a 0 after that I might agree.

It just never changes. More and more instant results demanded after less and less games.

i have probably taken it out of context but in vc's delist thread you have put a line through 2 guys that havent played 1 game yet:

Ok cool. In that case add Stringer, Hartman and Bews to Menzel and Cowan.

I for one am very excited by the possibility of having Menzel, Burbury and Smedts in our forward line. All present well and can be used as 'key' style targets if Tomma is getting shut out of the game, and all have shown they can do this very effectively (yes even Burbury has).

Needs time as most are suggesting.
Really like his attack, pressure and understandable this is not a trait some fans wanna see in the line-up but is definitely worthy of persisting with.
Unfortunately for George, Motlop is back, which gives us a little extra flexibility all over the ground given his brilliance and Murdoch also looks to have begun his development into one very handy player so I can't see Burbs staying in the team right now.

Smedts, McCarthy and Kersten are back in the coming week/s which is precisely what the doctor ordered :thumbsu:
Competition for spots is going to be very healthy during the second half of the year.

To take uncontested marks , and kick the goals that are basically handpass distance. All the hard work is fine and noted but he simply must be better at making the most of his chances. Probably too late now , he is probably starting to get a bit a error fatigue which induces stress , which induces error .....
You think he's doomed now?
His preseason game v Pies reflected his whole preseason- we are yet to see that, but it is there like a skinny man trying to get out of a fat body; it will happen, I'm confident, and I'm sure CS values him for reasons that will become apparent to us this year. I do have a thing for quality people who get to play in a Geelong jumper and are highly thought of by all those involved in the club, for both footy and non-footy reasons.

Comparing Bartel to burbury now . You should stop posting. You have already embarrassed yourself enough for one day

Actually you have that market cornered…

Go Catters

burbs will be OK. Early days in his career and looks like he could be a player. Suspect he'll go back to the VFL once Caddy & Christensen are right to play. All the kid needs is some confidence in himself at the AFL level, and his skills will improve out of sight. He is a classic example of a player getting a bit overwhelmed by the moment, at times. It's just a sign of inexperience of AFL type pressure, not lack of ability.

I will just waite until he goes back to the vfl and then you will find what he's about if he can play good footy and win he's place back or not

My thinking was that if he had made the most of his chances from day 1 then then pressure may not have started to build on him. Will he do it the AFL now? I dont think so. I think its time fro a return to the VFL , get a few games into him , build the confidence again.

People say he needs time, maybe that's true, but just not sure what sort of player he is supposed to be. At the moment he has poor skills coupled with poor decision making, and low confidence. All are probably correlated. But he definitely need a spell unfortunately for him. Freo being one of the noted pressure teams in the comp - I cant see him doing anything but struggle

I don't think Burbury is worthy of being in the Cats' best 22, the only reason he should be in the AFL Side is because of injuries to players like Smedts, Kerston, Christiensen. He is constantly dropping sitter marks and has hardly had a positive impact on the team. I also reckon Hawkins needs some help up forward, even though H-Mac looked pretty good against Hawthorn in Rnd 5. I don't see how Walker still hasn't got a decent opportunity at the AFL level. He has been tearing up the VFL.

Hey there, DV. Always good to see new blood on the forum...

I think you're right in that Burbs hasn't cracked "best 22", although I think his confidence is low at the moment and he needs to regroup on the twos. Hopefully McCarthy or Schroder, if not Caddy or Bundy, can come in soon.

Walker, I would like to see more of. He must have got some confidence from his accurate kicking against Port and we should build on that. We really need at least one of Brown, Walker or Kersten to show that they can be best 18 before the end of the season.
