George has been dead for 11 years, seems like only yesterday doesn't it? Well heres a thread about George's music over the years, like it or hate it.

Personally I have most of his solo output and you can't go past the great All Things Must Pass or not snap your fingers to Cloud Nine. Yes in between were hits and misses and he played a beautiful slide. Concert for Bangladesh is perhaps his greatest achievement as an artist and the infectious joy that was the Travelling Wilburys showed his famous humour and lighter side.

So, people, Let It Roll.....

And plagiarized.

It's also a real good example of how George could take cues from John occasionally and lapse into pretentious self importance.
I don't really care about any of that stuff. Great song, one of my favourites and very catchy.

Lol well you're a Springsteen fan, probably my most hated artist and who I rate as the most overrated of all time.

So it's no surprise i'm going to disagree with you :D

If you heard more of the less mainstream songs your mind my change. But you are entitled to your opinion.

I got pummeled with his albums from a couple of my relatives as a kid back in the 70's. He's a poor mans Bob Dylan, and I'm not a fan of Dylans music either.

But anyway, back on George Harrison.....

Not my fav Beatle
Macca takes the cake there by a long shot. Although i do like plenty of his stuff. Great guitar player/Top craftsman..
Sometimes though his tunes seem to be all one tempo though. Does not have that extra gear if yaknowwhatimean..
I see him as more a pop crafter than a rock songwriter. Its been a long time since i have thrown on ATMP

The Donatello of The Beatles. Wise, quiet, reserved, but underrated. Loved his work.

Paul = Leo
John = Raphael
Ringo = Michaelangelo
George Martin = Splinter
Yoko = That rubbish 5th Asian Ninja Turtle they tried to introduce.

Consider your minds blown.

Agreed, it was a lengthy saga in which Allan Klien did the dirty on George but in the end George acquired both He's So Fine courtesy of Bright Tunes and My Sweet Lord. I mean how many songs these days have more blatent rips than the opening motif of MSL but it was George who had to edure the whole fiasco because he was a Beatle.

And it true George humour we got a great song out of it all, George's "This Song"

This song has nothing tricky about it
This song ain't black or white and as far as I know
Don't infringe on anyones copyright, so...

This song well let be
This song is in "E"
This song is for you and...

This tune has nothing bright about it
This tune ain't bad or good and come ever what may
My expert tells me it's okay

As this song came to me unknowingly
This song could be you could be...
("Could be 'Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch'." "No, it sounds more like 'Rescue Me'.")

This riff ain't trying to win gold medals
This riff ain't hip or square
Well done or rare
May end up one more weight to bear

But this song could well be
A reason to see - that
Without you there's no point to this song

My favourite Beatle.

Not enough time to go into how good he was.

And music was just one of his hobbies, didn't treat it as a career for a long time or had the urge to be a prolific commercial recording artist and performer, An album from George was like recieving a postcard, literally in the case of Gone Troppo :)

I think alot of people haven't taken the time to delve into his catalogue to appreciate his musical legacy

I understand where you are coming from, I guess he is not as dynamic or as hard rocking as many of his contemporaries were but I reckon he could make his artistic statement with the best of them.

Favourite Beatle of all. Could go on and on about him.

Stuff like Badge, Something, WMGGW, Isn't it a Pity, When we was Fab, are just timeless.

Mate was telling me how he used to come to Adelaide for the Grand Prix, no pretences about him, reckoned he'd stand in the queue like everyone else at the Buffet table, paper plate in hand, chatting away.

Fantastic Doco Scorsese put out - George Harrison: Living in the Material World.
A must see for all George fans.

What a nice fellow ;)

Without George Harrison The Life of Brian probably wouldn't have got made. He was a big fan of Monty Python and wanted to see the film so he put together his own film company, Handmade Films, and provided the funding for it when funding from elsewhere fell through. He spent quite a lot time with the Python guys and they all speak very highly of him.

He may not have been the most musically talented of The Beatles but from all accounts he was a top bloke.
