100% no... Its bloody hard for Andy players at that age to break into a team that's playing off in a Grand Final. Geelong rarely has any new players play straight away. There seems to be a lot of goodwill here from cats supporters on letting a player of theirs go...geelong never let go of what they want to hold....warning bells maybe!!
This guy has no clueWill be free. Don't think he will make it.
I love the guy but just isn't dominant enough as an inside mid to overcome his lack of pace. This guy has no clue

I think we're pretty transparent about his shortcomingsThere seems to be a lot of goodwill here from cats supporters on letting a player of theirs go...geelong never let go of what they want to hold....warning bells maybe!!
Annnd we will probably play him on a wing just like we did with HatelyWe are in desperate need for a pure inside extractor (seeing we had some bad fade outs at clearance throughout the year), so this is a target that makes some sense on our side. As much as Stevens could be another Jackson Hately type.
Clark had a year to run when we traded him inthats not really true, Stevens is out of contract just like tim kelly and jordan clark.

Nah, I remember Mrouch being killed on the wing vs the Hawks a few years backIf you can't find a way to survive/thrive on the wing, you aren't an inside midfielder.
There's an AFL standard player in there, perhaps even a very good one - but it's just very circumstantial. There seems to be a lot of goodwill here from cats supporters on letting a player of theirs go...geelong never let go of what they want to hold....warning bells maybe!!
If he is fairly low cost - 3rd rounder, I's think he's be worth a punt for us as if he could end up the Mat Crouch upgrade to win the ball at the contest and allow our runners in Rankine, Draper and even Dawson who could move back to more of an outside role, it would help...oh, and if the stars align and we land Petracca, it would benefit him too. There's an AFL standard player in there, perhaps even a very good one - but it's just very circumstantial.
In the modern game, you can't carry multiple players who get burnt in transition. George does, but his accumulation, handball game, toughness, and work ethic are elite.
If you can develop him into your prime ball winner and surround him with runners, you can build a competent midfield with him in there.
If he's in there with players who get beaten on the spread, he's going to get exposed, and his time in the AFL will be short-lived.
At Geelong, Scott values the ability to be flexible positionally and to run opponents into the ground over anything else, so he was always going to have his work cut out here.
Gun to my head - I doubt he makes it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did work out for him and he becomes a star either.
It's so circumstantial. Sydney for instance with Chad, Heeney, and Gulden would be perfect for him.
He's a ripping kid though, and won't die wondering.

I'd have Jarrod Berry with one shoulder over the unrelated Sam Berry.Stevens would be the worst fit for Adelaide.
You don't need another Jarrod Berry, you need legitimate explosive class. He wouldn't get a game in your starting midfield anyway.
Stevens is not even remotely like Jarrod Berry in any way, shape or form, WTF are you on about?Stevens would be the worst fit for Adelaide.

Jarrod has played wing almost exclusively in recent seasons and has one of the best tanks in the AFL, George Stevens is a inside contested midfielder with a bazooka boot if allowed to get out into space. I've watched both players right back from when they were 16 years olds at the Ballarat Rebels almost all of that live. He's a big bodied, defensive one-paced midfielder. Adelaide need a midfielder who can break the lines. They are already one dimensional enough whenever Rankine is spending time forward.

They got smashed by Jai Newcombe in the semi final. None of their mids could compete. Newcombe is not what I call an explosive, line breaking midfielder.
The Crows also need a line breaking midfielder, but they also need a contested bull, because Sam Berry is not it, Peatling is a decent second or third banana but he's not good enough to lead a midfield.
Whether or not Stevens is the Jai Newcombe equivalent is another conversation, but they need their Jai Newcombe/Lachie Neale/whatever extractor.
Jai Newcombe was playing VFL at the same age Stevens is now.lol if Stevens showed just an ounce of Newcombe's game, he would have played more than two games this year.

He'll be cheap, don't worry about that.If he is fairly low cost - 3rd rounder, I's think he's be worth a punt for us as if he could end up the Mat Crouch upgrade to win the ball at the contest and allow our runners in Rankine, Draper and even Dawson who could move back to more of an outside role, it would help...oh, and if the stars align and we land Petracca, it would benefit him too.
This is a bit of a knee jerk. His debut game he was against a slower but well experienced midfield. He wasn't getting exposed for pace and he impacted pretty well.Stevens isn't even at that level. Honestly, go watch some of his games on YouTube where he played VFL.
The midfielders who would have a better chance at making it in the AFL are Clohesy and Retschko. One of them is rumored to be leaving while the other is going to see a fair bit of senior action in 2026.
Because you compared Stevens to Newcombe. Not even sure why you are comparing Stevens to Newcombe.
A better comparison was Jarred Jansen.
