The Tigers are going to start playing good, risk taking, fast, attacking footy either this week or the week after and here's why:
We only take the game on when we have nothing to lose! I only really realised this last week against Melbourne. Early on we just went down the wings, played stop-start footy and kept that up for the first 3 quarters. Then at 3 quarter time we were 5 goals down and it was obvious the only chance we had was to move it quickly. And that's what we did, and we win the quarter by 21(?) points.
Last year against the Dogs. We are against the odds all game so really we have nothing to lose, no one rated us a chance. So we play attacking risky footy and we are in front. 4 minutes left we have the lead, which is something to lose. So we try to save the game. And we lose it.
And even when you think about it last year on the whole, we started playing attacking after round 11 when we were 3-7 with a draw, and once again nothing to lose.
This season everyone thought we were a chance to play finals and so on the whole TW and the players see the finals spot as something to lose. So instead of taking risks and possibly losing games, we try to save the season from the start and **** it up. Now we are 0-4 the season is effectively gone, so Richmond are going to start running down the middle, taking the game on and we will start winning. If we manage to get to 8-8 or around there, we will go back to playing defensive and trying NOT TO LOSE, instead of trying to win.
It annoys the shit out of me but it is a fact, and it needs to change. But tbh I can't see this changing under TW. At least the bright side is we will win a few games, only to be gutted when we finish 1-2 games outside the top 8 again.
