He just doesn't attend many.

We've been pretty reluctant to use him in the centre square but whatever the reasoning it needs to be shelved, even when M Crouch comes back.

Also, the kid has great vision,decision making and doesn't seem to s**t himself under pressure.
Slows the game around him ala Sam Mitchell. Not quite the foot skills but rarely seems to cough it up with a poor disposal.

Love him as a centre man.

All the best midfielders start off in the AFL as small forwards, ideally defensive smalls whose role is to not kick goals or get involved in the play

At least for last week, Schoenberg and Fog both had 4 CBA's. Berry doubled them on 8.

If he's proving to be that good at the centre bounce, at least start him there and let him roll forward from it into his current role and have an 'around the ground' onballer split in from off the front after the bounce. Won't require any extra fitness; one of the least fit players in the competition (Stringer) does this regularly.

It's a small sample size, so I'd like to see it fleshed out before made permanent, but it's worth a crack - makes sense really given his strengths that he'd excel there.

Might be a small sample size but he got a decent grab of neg ruck, cos let’s face it. We are playing a really tall chb at ruck with no tap craft.

Just ran through the numbers for CBA's

So a total of 228 for the season so far.

Schoenberg has had CBA in every game bar Round 6.

Overall for the season the CBA totals have been



I didn't include ruckmen in this, but the obvious trio of Laird, Keays and Sloane are preferred 3.

Schoenberg however has been hit slightly by the inclusions of Hately and Fog, Round 6 game where he didn't get any CBA's, which was the one game both Fog and Hately played, with Hately attending 56% of CBA's and Fogarty 53%. We also used Seedsman at 41% of the CBA's in that game which is way above his average.

So in the first 3 rounds where we had no Fog or Hately the CBA's were

So basically the standard 3, with Berry and Schoenberg pretty much getting equal time as the 4th in line midfielder. There's other guys getting a few CBA's like Seedsman, Sholl, McHenry and McPherson, but they're only 1 or 2 a game, so certainly not anything to worry about. That's a pretty tight rotation though.

And then from Round 4-7 where we didn't have Sloane.


So basically with Sloane out we loosened the midfield rotations a bit, we hit Laird and especially Keays harder, as well as brought in Seedsman and Hately/Fog and pushed Schoenberg and Berry down the pecking order to accommodate the extra men in. Sloane was back last week, but they took it a bit easy on him at CBA's at 57% and brought back Berry to his early type figures, attending 38%, but Schoenberg was down to 19% because Fogarty was in the mix, attending 19% of CBA's also.

Now CBA's aren't the only way to measure midfield time and it certainly felt like Schoenberg was getting plenty of time in the middle of the ground last week, but my guess is with Sloane back they'll keep Seedsman out of the rotations again (he had 2 last week) and maybe look to tighten it up like the first 3 weeks, though if they continue to play Fog or add Hately in that will have some impact on Berry/Schoenberg going forward.

Actually he said ninth in the competition for "when he goes into the centre bounce, they win it" - meaning the team, not him personally.

It would be interesting to see some deeper analysis into the cause rather than just the effect.

Could not agree more , would be loading as many midfield minutes into him as possible . Has the composure and temperament to cope with them but needed a fair bit of fitness and conditioning which seems to be coming along well.
He did outpoint all during u/18 champ finals including Mattt Rowell , we have something special in Harry.

Can we get stats on around the ground stoppages as well? He seems to be more involved at those too the eye and when he is he seems to do well.

Fitness doesn't appear to be the issue. Is it balance they're after? Would like to hear why he's down on CBAs.

I'd like to see him spend more time inside and maybe Keays spend more time outside. Utilise both players' strengths.

We should be rotating our midfielders a lot more than having two blokes in there 80% of the time in a rebuilding year
