As a member who missed out in the ballot, I am trying to think if there is any way of getting a ticket on the day.

I am wondering has anyone in previous years got tickets on GF day (obviously not Geelong for 12 years) by turning up at the MCG on Saturday? If so, what happened and any tips?

A bloke rang up SEN today to say that if you turn up on the day you're certain (virtually) to get a standing room ticket. With Port playing there probably will be a few to spare I'd think. I can't see 10000 Port supporters making it, we only had 16000 applications for tickets and we're local.

Only thing I can think of is if the AFL Members doesn't sell out (as I believe they have to pre purchase their tickets this year) then the remainder MAY get on sold on the morning of the match.

Another thing to try would be to put an ad in the Herald Sun - there were none in todays paper which I found a little surprising - (Wanted to Buy section of the classifieds) as people who want to sell them can't advertise them because of the scalping laws. By doing this, the people that want to get rid of them can call you thus avioding the scalping police.

Apart from that, ring and email everyone you know and see if they can ask their work mates and so on. Word of mouth may be your saving grace.

Good luck and I hope you get some tickets.

I've heard that other non-competing clubs on sell their allocations, you could try ringing them too. I suspect nowadays they on sell them to corporates but you never know your luck.

Not sure what Ports ticket allocations was/is but they are all gone.
Phone callers to ticket master are being told there are standing tickets only.

So you are able to get standing room tickets on the day?

Is it worth ringing other clubs to see if they have any of their allocated tickets left?

Na no go. They're on-selling those tickets to the centre-square corporate gig where they get a percentage of the $2000 punters pay to get in there.

If you rock up to the ground on the day and can't get a ticket I'm pretty sure you'll be able to enter the ground for free after 3/4 time. Obviosuly you'll have to stand but if we're looking the goods I'm sure you won't mind.:thumbsu:

So, essentially, they're scalping them to the rich and famous?

Well done AFL.
