The way we were moving the football back then compared to now was chalk and cheese, at the time he was talking rubbish.

Like me and one or two others on here he could see our unhealthy reliance on Fyfe and predicted the problems spot on if Fyfe's influence dried up. I'm not generally a fan but it was a good article and he was spot on in every way.

McPharlin, Dawson and Ballantyne will help more than some people realize.
All that is made of WC's outs yesterday, they had similar outs to us. Most important player against the opposition (NN/Luke), key back man (Dawson/McGovern) and small fwd (Ballantyne/Le Cras). MJ was also a liability (but needed the run) compared to his usual self. Luke and Dawson will be back this week (IMO) which will go a long way to settling the team.

McGovern and Dawson cannot be compared. Gov is that much better it's not funny. He sets up play, intercepts with his marking and his disposal is above par. The only parallels that can be drawn is that they are both decent at killing a contest.
West coasts outs yesterday were more influential to their team than our outs.

Crozier has been in similar or slightly better form as ballas. The way I see it, Croz has more or less neutralised the loss of balla.

A loss to North this week is a distinct possibility
I agree. Had we beaten the slime I was going to tip North - expecting us to rest all our vets.

I still might. Which is telling, because the top of the table team should easily account for the team sitting 7th.

I make no apology for this but on current form there is a real possibility of another of straight sets finals series. For all the hype our real story is in numbers and that is our inability to kick goals. Much has been said about not consistently kicking over the 100 point mark. For a team on top of the ladder we work way too hard for our score. Unless a real turn around happens in a real short time frame reality is going to bite and another waste of a season. For those that believe Lyon has some sort of ace up the sleeve don't be disappointed. I hope I'm wrong but our recent past doesn't go well for our immediate future.

Today's game was a litmus. Every thing on the stats sheet is our way BUT where ****ed. No goals and you lose. I have never ever walked out on a game but today was a first - gutted.

Neither, but knew the game was over even 5 pts down. No idea why our skills is what it is. The handballing inside the corridor gets me no end. Why are they asking for a HB 5 m away. Just kick it around and spread.

Kick it to who? Nobody forward of centre can win a contest

Look at Kangaroos spreading, they run in numbers. No reason why we can' do the same. Seems like we're in a hurry to get a goal fast, but that always backfires. Spurr/MJ handballing or kicking 10-20 m cost us a few goals from nothing

We still need to beat port in Adelaide or we face hawthorn in a QF.
The squiggle has us losing the Port game and WCE winning all of their games to finish first. This would be incredibly disappointing which is why today's loss ****ing sucks.

Dunno about the squiggle but with what we've been dishing up lately we are relying on Melbourne to be shit to give us a chance of winning.

Unless our form changes radically, a straight sets exits is verging on a certainty. If you have a package for the big one pick a second team because we wont be there this year. Last two games have exposed us completely. People get all offended when none of the media rates us a chance for the finals yet the reasons they don't are abundantly clear.

We played one decent quarter today when norths were playing poorly and when norths stepped up, we couldn't go with them....and norths are barely top eight material.

We had a great start to the year when our main adversaries dropped games they should have won and thats given us a false view of where we stand. In spite of our current position we are just not a top 4 side right now and I dont back our coaches to change that in 2 weeks considering they haven't addressed problems that have been there all year.

North needed it more than us today, just like WC did last week. Once Hawthorn lost, us winning this game became unnecessary. WC Have secured top 2 now, maybe we will see the same in their Adelaide game?

We won't know where we are at until finals now. Hopefully we can flick the switch for the finals, and destroy Hawthorn/Sydney in week 1

I just woke up after this really really bad nightmare. I dreamed that we played Norf's and threw the game away by using preprimary Auskick level skills. It was a truly horror experience.

Succinctly - Freo are ****ed and cannot kick a big score as demonstrated by the last several months.

Winning the ball and getting it to the forwards isnt even an issue. Defending well for long periods isnt the issue. No consistant goal kickers is the issue. Pav is almost spent.

If there is a magic switch to turn it on like we did in the first 8 rounds we better find it very quickly.

It's going to be interesting to see how active Freo are in the trade period after this season.

Finals footy is a completely different ball game. I don't think people are getting ahead of themselves on here. The fact is that we are still top of the ladder, and we probably should have a reasonable chance in the finals series, assuming that we can beat Melbourne at home (if we lose that game, then all bets are off!). I reckon the WC game yesterday said a lot more about where the Doggies are at than where WC are at at the moment. We shouldn't have dropped the North game, but they had a lot more to play for than we did.

I haven't booked flights this year, but I have done a full safety check of the vehicle just in case a continent crossing is required..

I agree with your doggies statement. Their 8 wins in a row was against teams outside the top 8. I think they have been a bit over rated

It's not about kicking a big score.
Our defense is good enough & our attack yesterday was excellent for a qtr.
the main thing that changed and needs to be fixed is our ball use in the corridor. The amount of turnovers through the middle yesterday was atrotious. Put our defense under way too much pressure.
If we fix the ball use, we will be fine.
