I would say bring on cricket season, but you know the redbacks are just going to suck as well.

What has happend today is just an embarrassment to this club. It's going to take one long pre season to get over this and work out what we can do to make sure this doesn't happen again.

It was a shitty performance, but it doesn't constitute a choke. That word gets thrown around to much.

We played like shit and were beaten by a rediculous margin because of it. This cannot be denied, but choking requires some sort of decent performance to begin with before losing.

All week we have been over the top in our approach and today is possibly the darkest day in the history of our great Club.

Record winning margin in a Grand Final is nothing short of a disaster. The players in general were pathetic, and the coaching staff need to really sit down and have a good hard look at themelves.

Right from the start we concentrated on tactics, zones, show pony stuff etc rather than just getting the ball and driving it long and quick. Our players ability to check was something to behold today.

Cant really think of one player who threatened the game at anytime. Just poor and hopefuuly we learn much from this game.

Spot on PJ

No hiding from the facts, no excuses, no nothing apart from hopefully a big dose on reality and humility.
 
The thing that bothers me is that we didn't play with the same plan as we took into the round 21 game. I'm honestky not sure what we were trying to do today.

nah thats bullshit, what about all the premierships port HAS won in the last 100 years, plus 1 premiership in 10 years is pretty good.

So right, we tried to win by tactics rather than beating them as footballers. We always suck when that happens.

It was a poor poor poor performance, no doubt, but it wasn't a choke, as we were never in a winning and advantageous position against the opponent, which is the very definition of a choke.

True. Firstly choke is a finals only thing. It's only when the big bikkies are up for grabs. And there's two sorts - firstly you bomb out of the finals finishing lower then your ladder position after round 22 (Port 2001-2003, Crows 2005/2006). Secondly you lead a final for most of it, only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (Crows 93, 2007).

Today wasn't a choke - it was a capitulation.

Finals footy. Breaking the corridor open.
But like you said, our 'checking' was atrocious.

I don't think this is a thing where it throws our next 3 years into turmoil and depression at all tho. Remember, this was a very young and patched together Port team (Choco's credit) that managed to shock the AFL by finishing 2nd and then making the GF.

So, with a few delistings and acquisitions etc, next year we'll be out for redemption. I can still see a back-to-back in the next 5 years.
 
it's funny coz grew has been one of our toughest young players all season... he didn't do his season any justice by his grand final performance. i'm still a big fan of his. he along with so many others disappointed me yesterday
