Since everything is slowly evolving shouldn't there also be a change where the GF is played especially if there were 2 interstate teams playing.
I love the MCG but shouldn't the teams be rewarded who make the GF.

Sydney v Adelaide should play at home ground etc

Out of curiosity those opposed to changing venues are you opposed also to twilight games and no Good Friday games as that is also tradition

Playing Devils advocate.
American sports which has vastly greater numbers and finances involved play at different venues

And they all have huge stadiums. Imagine a grand final in front of only 24k at Spotless stadium

They schedule those venues a long time in advance though (and they are often neutral venues of the teams playing).

Why wouldn't an interstate team who finished top not be allowed to have an advantage on their home ground. Why should a Victorian team who finished 8 be given an advantage?

I would love the GF in Sydney but that is selfish reasons. No thanks. GF at the MCG and just leave it there and this comes from last year and the umpires being awful at the MCG. It is just right playing it at the MCG.

When the other states have a 100k+ seat stadium, sure.
Not even then. This is one tradition that should never be tinkered with. All clubs came into the AFL knowing the grand final is played on the MCG.

What are you complaining for? It helped your side last year.

There is no other stadium that can hold it. As it is 100k isn't enough seats.

Grand Final rule should be if you have a 100k Stadium with good access and amenities and a higher ranked club from that state is playing then it can be played there otherwise MCG

The only thing that I wouldn't mind and this is from the English Super League. The top ranked side should choose their opponent in the first week.

So 1 chooses between 2-4 5 chooses between 6-8.

Just a thought.

Maybe the Melbourne Cup and Australian Open should be hosted at other venues too?

The day they move the Grand Final to another city is the day I stop watching.
Sydney would love to snaffle the Australian open. That's why Melbourne Park was recently upgraded, to ensure it remains the No.1 tennis venue in Australia, if not the world

Sydney getting the Australian Open is laughable, albeit I've heard worse lol

Because "them the rules". The team that finished top in the H&A does get a home final, just not the grand final

But alot of rules are being broken and tradition is going

The GF won't be held at other venues, similarly the NRL GF won't be held in Melbourne. It is a dumb idea.

Not complaining. Just saying with changes coming like Twilight GF and Good Friday games eventually it will happen

I can understand non Melbourne teams wanting a home ground GF

It is utter nonsense to suggest an event like the GF should be scheduled a week or two in advance - which is the reality if you're talking playing at the home of the higher ranked team.

No other city in Australia could host it successfully either if it was a neutral venue. For example, Adelaide doesn't have the accommodation to host two visiting Victorian team's supporters.

Christ people talk some s**t in regards to this subject.
