Bombers will most likely package 2 second rounders for a first and pass that on for Stringer

I dont rate Smith that highly, but I think the bombers are playing this well if they want to obtain the three
The hard part will be finding a willing dance partner.

They're all dressed up with no place to go.

Someone on foxsports trade blog just said this, interesting if true, bad for us i think if that happens

"Have heard from people at the Gold Coast footy club that Steven Motlop has already signed the dotted line at the Gold Coast, but the club are waiting to release to the press as they want to announce it with conjunction to Ablett to Geelong, which is set the be finalized next week"
Our best bet for good compo IMO.

He's not going to go up there for a song and dance.

Unless they trade a future 1st rnd for him we are right back in it if we want to be.
Given its still early days you'd think Essendon wouldn't have gotten the Smith deal done unless they were worried they were going to lose him, or, know they can cobble together something without 11 the Dogs have already agreed to.

Free Agency closes this week though doesn't it?

Would rather get the compo for him going to Adelaide to behonest and if he goes to GC as a free agent then we will get shafted most likely.
I'd rather he go to a team at the other end of the ladder!

GC will offer him top tier coin IMO.

Steve May (his best mate) is current co-captain and odds on to be solo skipper after Lynch leaves (which I think will happen)

Going up North has him that little bit closer to home as well.

Purple was having one of his hissytissy fits... he hates FA comp ..and was calling it a rort.. that the two FA's should cancel out the Rockliff comp. FA in FA out.
As if.
Unless the comp is comparable.. a club would trade for a young better FA player than Hodge to avoid cancelling the comp. Hawk would just do a Chappy type trade anyway... I know we are "us and them" but really they hold to a lot of similar values and they do take care of their champs. No way the would do the dirty on Hodge.

I cant wait to see what his reaction is..if we get band 2 and trade it Gold Coast... he literally would turn purple.
Who cares what he thinks. The guy is a flog of the highest order. Acts like he is the CEO of the AFL the way he carries on at times. Gets on his high horse way too often. Read his Sliding Doors articles and you will see him regularly contradicting himself about issues.

You’re being too literal. They got a better pick back so in net terms they have better later round draft capital than before. It’s allowed.
Funny thing... Rules are literal ...

so instead of..
If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds.

it should be
If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft unless it involves multiple trades so that when assessed at the conclusion of the trade period the outcome is a positive outcome for said club involved in the trade and of course all such deals must meet the stringent but floating standard of AFL acceptance which can can change on a whim or a flick of a hair depending on the outcome they want.

They dangled pick 11 to the Dogs and D'Orazio and then traded it for a much inferior player.

They're lessening their currency to land Saad and will offer the Dogs scraps.

We will get Stringer IMO.

Posters on this board have told me to shut up about him, but why stop talking about a player we are firmly in the race for?
