Just purely for shits and giggles should they become stars with us Rabs
Yep, I know. It is kind of like no one ever gets delisted from the Cats for not being good enough, because the Cats can develop any player into a top AFL player.

wells also said at the time he thought menzel was the best talent in the draft. lucky we didnt have the number one pick that year hey. Wells would of seelcted the worst number one draft pick in thirty years.
Wells is so well-regarded with his nous that other clubs go for players that he's scouting and want to trade in players that he's drafted. Troy Menzel, Jared Jansen and Dean Gore are the perfect examples. Sometimes he can actually bluff clubs into picking average players and feel good about it.

Just on Hall, it's difficult I think to get a real feel for what he'd be like in a different environment.

GC hasn't had the best coaching and culture in place. The knock on Dixon was that he was a bit lazy too, look at him after a couple seasons at Port.. he single handedly tried to win them their elimination final against West Coast. Can't help but feel that Matera at Freo or West Coast is going to go on to great things, has plenty of talent. Bennell isn't the best example but then Hall doesn't have Bennell type issues.

Could be a great addition to our relatively one-paced midfield.
I'm wondering how much Suns football you've seen.

Dixon was never lazy, he had injury issues that restricted his time on field. When he was there, he played the perfect foil for Lynch.

Matera, well good luck but he's not gonna change any1's finals hopes. Bennell on the other hand, star class if the attitude & incentive is there.

Hall has a lot of potential also, and if we are landing Gaz and talking about Hall, so much the better, because Aaron is 1 of the mids Gaz mentored.

Not the best but still 1 of and pretty much a Mots replacement. Go hard you Cats supporters looking for a new whipping boy.

If that's true I'd be more than happy to get him cheap. Has talent at least and still relatively young.
I always wanted to pick him up, to be honest. Would be very happy to get him now. But in saying that, there’s obviously something very wrong with his attitude, and only he can fix it. You’d think he’ll get 1 more chance somewhere.

Talking about Adelaide, the other thing that will have them stewing about Geelong's trading is the swap of picks we had with them that gave us Cockatoo and them Lever.

No doubt Lever is the better player but he was always going to be good and always going to be snapped up by a high paying club. Kelly, Talia and Alex Keath surrounded by Laird and Smith still give them very competent backline.

Meanwhile Cockatoo is as loyal as they come and would be a ready made replacement for Cameron.

Hindsight...

Next time they'll be counting their fingers after shaking hands with Mr Wells.

I don't know much about Jansen other than he was a tall mid and someone compared him potentially to Joel Corey; why couldn't he make it into our seniors' team?
Jansen was drafted on size alone. The year he was drafted everyone thought really tall mids were going to be the way of the future.
Don't think he even cracked it for a senior game in the WAFL.
Problem was couldn't really play. Even his very best VFL games were still preety mediocre.

The "Wells special" line has to be one of the better myths of the last decade. I get the feeling some fans prefer Wells finds some nobody as a surprise pick instead of going for the best actual footballer.

That's business isn't it. As fierce as the rivalry is onfield, it seems the relationship n dealings offield is respectful. Regardless of adl losing out bt in both transactions, all beit they didn't see the lever one coming of soughts
