As an example of what to do or an example of one that needed to do it..

Context kinda matters here

Go Catters

The latter....but the fact he mentioned him at all indicates that he thinks Gardner has got something that could become AFL standard quality. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

Isn't that the reason we haven't re-signed Menzel yet, that the contract offered was significantly lower than what he was on this year & why he fell out of favour and the top 20 at the Carji?

I know some like to take pot shots at Scott & co, but it's getting beyond a joke with some of the crap being sprouted
Menzel's manager is probably trying to see what $ other clubs are offering before they decide on our offer.

Maybe, but my guess is that they haven't announced it yet because they're giving Geelong the wknd to up their offer and get closer to Stringer's asking price. Make no mistake, this is about money. Stringer isn't going there for their "leadership". Half of their team are convicted drug cheats for crying out loud and their current coach allowed a rife drug culture to exist for years at his former club. Please Jake, spare me...

Dog's would be talking to Wells in order to play us off against the Bombers in an attempt to get maximum value for their player. There is nothing unusual about that. If we're offering more in a trade than what the Bombers are they'll probably try to pressure Jake into coming to play for us instead. It's all just one big game and the loser is the one that blinks first.

From a supporters POV following all of this trade stuff is rather futile, but geez it's entertaining! :D
I suspect thats what is happening too although i think he will pick essendon.

I hope you're wrong in saying it's about money, Of course I want the best for us, if Jake doesn't see what is in his best interests and goes for the 'glitter,' good luck to him as a person, not an AFL player.
You're preaching to the choir there Shai. I've been against recruiting him as soon as the news broke a couple of weeks ago that he would be on the move.

Too much baggage and way too much potential for it to massively blow up in our faces. We're better off looking elsewhere...

You think Geelong would of said that though already.
So maybe we are crunching the numbers and seeing what we can do.
I'm sure that we have but there is no advantage in Stringer's management announcing where he wants to go before the trade period has even begun. There is no rush from their POV. They'll just wait over the wknd and see how the cards fall.

And crunching numbers? It's not high school mate. They would already know how much they're prepared to offer him, how far they could go if they wanted to and how far they simply couldn't go even if they did want to.

The only way that Stringer would end up at Geelong now is if either he changes his mind regarding his asking price or we change ours. I'd be surprised if either of these two things happened.

Don't even think that's in play now. Cats have cooled and are looking at Watts instead.

Agree 100%....

But the Stringer to Essendon line has been out there for over a week now....what's the advantage in delaying...

Of course the Dogs may be the fly in the ointment....

That’s the thing though maybe we have. Maybe we are waiting to see what Motlop is doing
Maybe we are waiting to see what Motlop gets us if he goes

There a whole range of things that could be delaying the decision, nobody on here knows.
