If we lose Motlop and get only Ablett, what a failure of list management it is right there.

Forget Smith, the big fish in the pool is Stringer, if we lose Motlop because we low ball hm to save cap for Stringer and Stringer nominates Essendon, we need to sack our list management group.

He has some bad periods but Motlop is a gun x factor player who had a bad season battling through injury and played out of position. He proved in finals how good he is.

Ablett I consider a "meh" acquisition. It is for romance, nothing more. Will play about 15 games, maybe 20.. as I said meh. We CANNOT let young players or cap go for a banged up 34 year old.

If Stringer nominates us and we land him, it will soften the blow of losing Motlop. But we come out about even.

We lose Motlop - for cap, and a few young players (eg. Lang) - for trading with GC, and not get Stringer. We have set the club back years.

I am scared we are about to overpay for Ablett, who is only worth a R3 pick. I want us to let him retire if GC demand more.

If Stringer nominates Essendon tomorrow, give that money to Motlop.
Stringer is just not that good I dont consider him to be a big fish at all all his plaudits are based on 1 season he's next 2 seasons have been very poor and Mots may just need a change of scenery to keep him fresh, it happens.
I would get rid of Menzel just doesnt suit our style of play and we are better off having a 2nd rd pick in 2018

To be honest, I'm surprised to see so many fans so excited about Ablett nominating us. Sure, it'd be fine if we give them pick 55 - which is his value.

I think it's going to change quickly when we overpay.

GC are c*nts. They are the little angry kid in the playground with a chip on their shoulder. They need to look like they act tough, because they know they are just a little irrelevant shit. Which is why they will be unreasonable.

I think we will overpay.

Try not to believe media rumours and not be so apopleptic before anything is done.

He met with Essendon yesterday, so there is every chance the story is just changing due to that.
He could meet with us tomorrow and it could all change again
That's a good point. You'd think if he is still deciding between the two clubs, he would meet both a second time. I guess we may have been doing exit interviews/reviews on Monday, he met Essendon yesterday, Wacky Wednesday today and then some media are saying he'll advise his manager of his decision on Friday. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow

Barrett on Trade Radio saying Bombers have offered more for Stringer, but we offer stronger leadership which is high on Stringer's priority list, he wants strong leaders around him which he believes will get at the Cats more then Bombers.

Thing is he's got a ton of talent and natural ability, pace, strength & something we really lack... Flair... & on top of that he's only 23 not only could he get back to his 2015 form he could get better.

Hamling is overstated on this board IMHO.

Go Cats!!!!!
He left Geelong as a DFA at the end of 2014, so we got nothing. When he was traded to Freo at the end of last year, with picks 40 and 63 (Hamling + 541 points), the Bulldogs got back picks 35, 43 and 61 (1035 points).

That trade put Hamling's value near enough to pick 36 - 504 points for Hamling, 502 for the pick.

I know 'points' are a kind of fantasy - his value to any club will vary, so they're just a rough guide. And of course Hamling was by then a premiership player, and two years older, so worth more. My point is that he was worth more because he'd been played, not because he was heavier, taller, or more talented.

Adam Saad leaving gold coast.
They are saying they want duncan cockatoo blicavs or parfitt for ablett.
If we got ablett and saad I reckon blicavs is doable. And toss in lang
Saad would give us the line breaker we desperately need.
Apparently looking at essendon and carlton.
Should do anything to open cap space to keep motters

Plenty of our Greatest ever players had attitude issues, hell half of our 2007 Premiership team did.
It's how you manage and correct those issues and how the player responds.
My mail is Stringer is still keen on the Cats and the Cats are still keen on him.
Mail? Internet? Or you do actually have reliable source

Once you look at his stats just not worth the dollar or picks, he makes Mots look like an elite player...

Bit harsh on the Suns, dont think any club needs to be labeled as shit, yep they have a few things to fix up but they are doing the right thing with Ablett seeing what they can get.

I hope your rite Jimmy but some how i reckon money talks. But Macke, Lonergan, and if Motlop and Menzal and trade couple of young ones plus delist a couple lol plus im sure payrd for Smedts 1st year at Carlton. You would think there be a bit of coin for Stringer. And you wouldnt know if they help with a so called sponsorship..
