Motlop - He will fetch us a late first rounder, keep for this years draft
Lang - Can get us a late second rounder, send him to Gold Coast, St Kilda, Hawthorn maybe

Go and get

Devon Smith - Carltons Second Rounder
Paddy McCartin - Our Second Rounder, plus fourth rounder
Kade Kolodjashnij - 2018 First Rounder

So we have a First Rounder, Second Rounder for this year
Think your compo ideas for Lang and Motlop are optimistic to say the least.

Makes no sense. Wants to be closer to Tasmania but is happy to go to Sydney? Not buying it. 1 hour plane travel time makes no difference.
Same probably goes for Geelong. Have to drive up to Tulla for an hour before catching a flight to tassie.
Mum and Dad have just moved up to qld with Kade and his sister...

I'd be more confident in Jake going to the Gold Coast than Kade coming here.

I think you'll find he might be part of a deal that sees Ablett come back home.
I have said the same a few time.. but that would have to involve a pick coming back. Atm JK would be worth more than GA. I have reservations about GC accepting a R3 pick.. it just makes them look like they have given in and let him go for little to nothing. To me it make sense a player is involved and a mix of picks to blur the lines.

I guess that all changes for JK if KK says don't come up here as I want out as well.

Then I doubt he leaves then.
Wouldn't that depend on what we offer him as well. If Northern clubs lose players they may have money to spend. Brisbane for instance have shown a liking for Geelong players.
Hopefully he plays well the rest of the year and both club and player are happy at years end but history says it wouldn't surprise if his name gets the dealt around again.

I agree, particularly if it is the case that the folks and sis have moved up there. I think that's very telling.

Has Kade really come on? I think his early reputation/surname gets him pumped up around these parts. Watch a fair bit of GC and his improvement has been marginal, at best. Probably in a similar spot to Thurlow in real terms IMO, and Jacko would be a regular with Suns if up there.
He looks to have just come off where he was.. as I said earlier I'm not sure he is worth a R1 now , certainly not an early one ... is he playing as well as 2e for instance?

Gold Coast don't have much choice and we're after picks for other reason and reasonably well served in the area of the field Kolodjashnij plays.

If I was looking to bring in Ablett and perhaps Smith ... I have to look at who's position they will take and id have to consider trading that player out. So to me the first obvious candidate that we would consider is more a mid than a defender. I doubt it would be our first choice to trade JK unless we really see an upside in the total deal more than just Ablett. I agree we can almost cover him but considering Mackie and Lonergan are on their last legs , I'd not say we were overly stocked in defenders at his height.

On the Gold Coast choice..just how obstinate would/could TonyC be. Surely he and they wouldn't be so inflexible that they would let him not play/retire and still be on their SC for the last year of his contract.

The Ablett deal is an afl deal
The chairman will have little influence. He who pays the bills will get what they want. Players association will be all over it.
Smith is an easy deal as it's our r2 from the blues plus change
Ablett will be a used twisties wrapper

If we were to win a flag you could see a few exit, plus the likes of Cowan are on their last chances

Might actually be a blessing. Gc probably wish they were paying 85% of the cap right now
Keep Gaz on the books. Set an example that we can't be pushed around, and just play one short in 2018 then go bang! With recruits at the end of 2018.

He missed substantial part of last season with an illness - not sure if it was glandular fever or something fatigue related.
Definitely knocked him around and stalled his development , prior to that he was looking very, very good IMHO

Few as in 4? Well if thats only if we win the flag ..thats hardly worth talking about.

LOL So used twisting paper is around R3 ...so whats that make Smith ... Christmas wrapping = R2.

How would the aflpa have any say..he is contracted , just because he wants out doesn't make a contract void..perhaps he should have put an out option in his contract.
