"It's one that I'd be lying if I said you don't ever think about it," Menzel said.

"It's a business and my family's all back there but at the same time the club (Geelong) has been so good to me.

"We haven't had contract talks at the moment and I'll leave that to my manager. He'll come tap me on the shoulder soon enough no doubt.

"I do love getting back home, I really do, and I enjoy catching up with mates and family back there, but I think I have a pretty good balance too. I'll see how it plays out. I think I'm happy with how things are at the moment."

He'll stay. Calm down Eeyore.

He's clearly open to the move. Dangerfield said similar things in 2015. Those people who reported he would never consider leaving Geelong, citing how much he appreciated what the club had done for him, clearly had the wrong idea.

Some were adamant that he wouldn't even contemplate leaving. Seems to be something to the theory that he'd be happy returning home despite the five years he allowed the club to nurse him through an injury history that appeared career-ending. Plenty of others would have cut him loose.
In regards to being adamant about Menzel staying I think it's more in line that you'd think he would want to repay the faith for a club that most likely would have delisted him I would have thought.

If you say so. He'll say this, the club will give him a good contract and he'll sign.

Really don't know why you're so obsessed with our list management or the rhetoric that they'll all leave. Duncan was going to leave for peanuts wasn't he.

Caddy wasn't going to leave, was he? Bought a house and was happy in Geelong, right?

Quite honestly, I think it's disgraceful that he'd give any credence to ideas that he would leave by stating publicly that he's open to it. How many years did he spend on the list without playing a game? How much time and care was he given by the club? Now he's talking about leaving after just coming back into the 22? With comments like that, there's little doubt he would have been long gone if not for the knee reconstructions. Treats the club like a hospital.

1. Pretty much sums up his intentions really .....

OR

2. His manager has said we have a low ball offer come out in the public and make some noise and wanting to speed things up.

Calm down.

Just because we've held him on the list for so long through his injuries doesn't mean he can't even consider moving home.

He'll stay.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if we won a premiership that he would retire to be honest. He's going to have big knee problems in the future so if we won a premiership he would be fulfilled and wouldn't be surprised one bit if he retired.

He can move if he wants. Nothing stopping him. It just says a lot about the quality of person he is if he does.

Give it a rest.

He's said that he's enjoyed his time with the GFC, and is grateful. Also acknowledged that the call of family and home is strong......which is normal to everyone.

Everyone, he especially, realises his career will be short, given his history, so not unusual that he thinks a last year or so at home is appealing.

Should have made his intentions to return home to Adelaide clear while on the sidelines. Club could have delisted him and sent him home. I'm sure Adelaide would have been tripping over themselves to sign him up at that point. Then the club would have saved a bunch of money and had the opportunity to develop a long-term prospect in his stead.

He would've had no idea where he was at BB, or if he even had a career at all.

Your attack on his character isn't warranted.

In the interview in which he talked about leaving, he suggested he wants to play for a number of years and no longer wants to be defined by his injury history. There was also talk of him being furious at the coaches when he was told he had to have a week off.

And he's given 42 interviews where he said he wont play all the games this year... or next year, or the year after... and he even referred to learning from last year when he ran out of steam.

And that was before the season started. You keep trying this hard to stir shit up, you will do a valve, or 5 .

An opinon expresses ones thoughts. An agenda expresses those opinons in the same undertone of angst on every topic - and we add one more to the list.
